I never said that a modded WRX would sound the same as an STi. You're putting words in my mouth.

this thread sucks like someone trying to convince people that there is a "lawsuit" regarding a "common problem"

Then please explain what you mean by "setup". You stated that a WRX and STi with the same "setup" would sound the same. What does this entail? I'd be interested in seeing a stock WRX with the same exhaust as a stock STi...

You can take 2 350's with different horsepowers and the same exhaust and you will have 2 totally different sounds. So im sure a 224 hp wrx sounds slightly different than a 300 horse sti with and exhaust. But my 15 years of experience wouldnt have anything to do with that.

Just an edit to this to. To get that extra 80 horse im not up on subs but im sure maybe a slightly different grind on the cams and maybe some work on the heads. All this will make an engine produce a totally different sound.
Don't give him to much credit, he's not completely right when he said they have the same engines. WRX's had 2.0L until 2005 when they started putting 2.5L in the WRX's too. The STI has always had the 2.5L so unless were talking 2005 and newer WRX's, its not the same engine.

I believe he was referring to the unique style of engines (boxer), but you do have a good point. Let's assume we're speaking of the new models, for the sake of simplicity.
