Lawsuit regarding IACV burning out ECU
Lawsuit regarding IACV burning out ECU
I see that the thread got deleted, which it should have.
Mods, please do not delete this thread right away...I have some information that people need to know.
I just want to let everyone else on here know that I contacted the law firm that this person was referencing.
The more and more I thought about those postings, the curiouser I got. So I called the 800-number for the law firm that was posted. I spoke with a low-level lawyer, communicated what had been posted regarding the firm's participation in this claim, and she took my phone #.
Not 15-minutes later, Mr. Rich Newsome, called me back. He stated that he was "livid" about the situation and said that his firm's participation in the issue was being "completely misrepresented." He said that he had a single conversation about the Maxima "issue" with a single individual, Mr. Hall. While the firm is, in fact, a product liability firm that does deal with automotive defects, they are not actively pursuing any investigation on this issue, and the idea that they were even close to launching an investigation "couldn't be further from the truth."
Mr. Newsome was really, really pissed off. He said that he was concerned that their firm was being misrepresented by Mr. Hall's posts on the issue. He was also really unhappy that the overly-enthusiastic but under-informed postings of one individual might damage the reputation of his firm, or the validity of any future claims on this issue. This could be a valid, serious claim. But if this one guy's posts turn it into a joke in the "Maxima enthusiast" community, it could damage any future the claim could have.
CLIFFS: The lawyer emailed me the following statement:
"Thank you for your call. We were disturbed to find out that our firm’s name was used on a Maxima web site. In response to your question, please allow this to confirm that our firm does not have an active investigation regarding the Maxima. We have not hired any engineers on this matter and are not pursuing any class action against Nissan at this time. While our firm does handle products liability litigation and is always willing to consider a valid claim, we do NOT have a case at this time against Nissan involving the Maxima."

i thought there was somethin fishy when i read that thread. I think he went on to talk about Soonerfan's Sooners iirc. What did that comment have to do with anything?

Soonerfan - I'm really glad you did that because this guy was clearly full of crap as you quickly pointed out in the original thread. I can't believe how persistant he was even though he knew he was lying out is a**. I bet he won't even show his face now.
This seemed very sketchy and I wanted to find out the real story so I called.
This guy wasnt able to back up anything he said.
I posted because I didnt want anyone to fall for this and waste their time.

All right guys
I misunderstood - I was wrong. I was trying to get an investigation into this problem and I thought I did, but I guess you guys are right and it's just my car. Sorry.
Please no more of the name calling, I didn't say anything that I didn't think was true.

Please no more of the character assassination, I didn't say anything that I didn't think was true.

you tried to convince other people to join in on the lawsuit that you fabricated in your head. you tried to use all of us for your own gain and you made a legitimate law firm look bad.
then, you realized that we had figured you out and you attempted to hide everything by deleting the thread.
i suggest you not post for awhile so people forget about this.
You know, the law firm could reasoably sue you for defermation and slander if they so chose to push the issue. Before you you start slandering anybody you should think about that. If i had the resources of a lawyer laying around i wouldn't take kindly to being misrepresented.

If anything they will sue the jerko who started it all..sooner just did his homework and VIOLA - lawfirm confirmed no investigation..
to sooneralso the original thread kept me entertained..kept me
while at work..
I don't agree that a lawsuit should be filed, but I have to tell you that this is a rapidly growing problem with 5th gen 3.0L cars. In the past six months we have changed or sold approx 12 IACV valves and at least 10 of those also included ECM replacement. Hate to tell you all but this is a real issue. BTW I work at a large volume dealership in Ohio.
