STS Users please step it...

A couple of months ago i bought a B&M sts and 2morrow i`ll be taking my car to get the clutch changed...i was wondering is it a good idea to get the sts installed or should i wait and breaking the clutch first?

Also i have read mixed reviews on the sts i have never had one so i can`t say(duh),but does having a sts got something to do with messing up the tranny?.I got a friend with a wrx and he told me that he had 2different cars(wrx, jetta)and after installing an sts he noticed that the tranny went bad in both of them...which make me wonder.....any problems that i should be concerns...

Thank.
Lenny.

i never heard of sts making you tranny go bad.i've got one in my 02 6spd no problems with it, so i would say get in installed all together you have nothing to worry about.

Lenny, check here http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=225766 for the fluid. I used Redline MT90.

Where are you getting your clutch replaced and how much are they charging you?

Nice, I would've gotten a Fidanza flywheel too if I were getting the clutch changed.

Wow, I've been thinking about picking up the B&M lately, but I think I need to me more worried about changing my tranny fluid. I bought my Max at 98,000 and I'm not sure if the fluid has ever been changed. I currently have 106k on her now. Will there be any issues changing my fluid now? I've had tranny shop tell me that it can do more harm than good, when tranny fluid hasn't been changed regularly. Something about the detergents in the oil cleaning out old gunk build up and clogging the filter. (Now this was on one of my old automatics, would it be the same for a manual? Does any of this make sense or is it just a bunch of crap?

a STS will have no impact on your tranny.

now with the new found close throws of the shifter, you may shift harder and drive the car harder. that might cause the tranny to go bad...but thats not the STS's fault. its the way you are shifting the tranny.
