Help with installing DDE's

let me first say that my dde's came with no instructions. i got them all installed based on housecor's directions, but now i have one brown wire and one red w/ white striped wire. when touching the positive battery post, both seem to turn on the dde's. where do i plug them into?

p.s. i intend to wire them to my park lights.

oh, and i just noticed that all the rings light up, but the 2 larger ones only go to a pinkish/purplish color. is this a wiring problem? i didn't see any markings on the white wires, so i just plugged them in.

Assuming they are Umnitza ddes...
The brown wire connects to the inverter along with the solid red wire.
The striped red wire is the trigger which you will tap into your parking light wire.

The pink/purple color of the larger rings is new to me. Emailing Umnitza is your best bet for that unless someone else has an explanation.

The will be purple/pink because of the cold weather. They turn to normal after they warm up eventually.

No no no. The inverter is also what some call a ballast. The inverters are the two little circuit boards/ boxes that came with your kit. Not the battery, the only wire that connects to the battery is the large yellow wire with the fuse holder.

you should have ballasts that you plug the rings, along with a wiring harness..

i'm thinking that maybe umnitza has altered their kit a bit because i have no yellow wires.

what my kit comes with:

2 ballasts with:
    1 relay with:
    1 black ground wire
    1 red fused power wire
    1 red wire w/ a white stripe
    1 brown wire

when i connect the red wire w/ white stripe to my positive battery post, i hear the relay click and the dde's turn on.

when i connect the brown wire to my positive battery post, the relay do not click, but the dde's turn on. what to do?

The red wire w/white stripe is your remote wire. (you can tell because it causes the relay to "click" on). Wire it up to a switched power source. I wired mine to my passenger side parking light - see step #14 on my site for details.

The brown wire coming out of the relay sounds like an unfused power wire that you won't need. All your necessary connections should be covered after you hook up the others.

I'm still not sure what the brown wire is you're referring to. All your necessary connections should be covered after you hook up the others. Is it coming out of the relay?
yes, it is. after speaking with someone at umnitza (via e-mail) they said that it's for remote turn on via interior lights and i should just tape it up. ok...i guess?

Sorry about that... Housecor is correct as usual. My power wire is a different color than yours. And my relay dosn't have a spare remote wire.

Sorry im late. ive done MANY sets of these DDE's and everytime i get a set, the harness is different! Yes, you did the correct thing, that extra wire is "if you wana hook the rings up to your dome light so they turn on when you unlok the car" Its fine to tie off and tuck away. Looks good man, good luck!
