tranny slipping can anybody help me?
Recently my tranny has been slipping. When I would press on the gas the rpm's rev up but im not picking up any speed, but then my rpm's go back down and then I pick up speed.
A friend of mine told me that it is a clutch problem. Im not sure if this is correct, but if so, would I be better off getting another stock clutch or aftermarket?
Another friend of mine said I should go with a Stage 2 performance clutch.
If the information above is incorrect can you please tell me what the problem is and what I can do to fix it?
Thank you.

I'm assuming you have a manual transmission. In order to properly determine what the problem is you'll probably have to pull the transmission.
It could be:
1. A bad/worn clutch plate
2. Bad/worn pressure plate
3. Less likely, but a possible rear main seal leak
It could be one, two or a combination of the three. How many miles the clutch assembly has on it and how the car is driven might shed some light on what the problem maybe but in all likelihoood the transmission will have to be examined.
In terms of what to buy, if you race, a performance clutch assembly would be appropriate but if you drive normally or even moderately agressively, a stock clutch should be fine.

Maybe the little details above will help identify the problem.

I'm sure somewhere someone in the forum has made a recommendation regarding clutch packages. Do a search of the forum.

heya choiiiii.. have u checked the transmission fluid level? i'd try putting in a bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix. It works on about 60-70% of the cars that come in with slipping trannys. it can be bought at most auto parts stores and should cost around 20 dollars. hope this helps
