2000 Maxima SE w/ 122K for $5,500. Sounds like a pretty good deal. (I have a 2000 GXE). But there are a few common things that 5th gen cars need after 100K:

Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF)
Struts
Catalytic Converter
Ignition Coils
Radio
My transmission has been fine but many others have had issues.
O2 sensors

If you don't have an OBDII scanner, the go out and buy one (or make frieds w/ your nearest autozone). Research any code you get on this board. There is a lot of good information here.

Good Luck! I'm hoping to get 200K out of mine.

Thanks Cdoc.

Can you tell me where the ODBII port is located? On my VWs it's under the dash directly below the steering column. I have the VAG-COM ODBII software on my laptop and a cable. Though VAG-COM has advanced features for VW/Audi it says it will read universal ODBII codes.

its below (not actually under) the fuse box cover to the left of the steering wheel. where your left knee is when sitting in your car.

No RE92s, just a mismatched (treadwear) set of Michilen MXV4s. Strange but none of them are close on treadwear leading me to believe I need to get an alignment soon. One is so bad I need to get it replaced ASAP.

The 225/50-17s are such an odd size & usually higher priced than the 225/45-17 (a VW/Audi favorite) and the 235/45-17. Now that other cars (Ford Fusion/Lincoln MKZ) are using the same size, hopefully prices will drop.

The word "on the street" is that the Toyo Proxes 4 now come in 225/50/17. If that is the case, it is welcome news, since those are some of the best A/S tires out there and they are fairly inexpensive ($100-120 each).....

Keys

I only received 1 set of keys with the Maxima. The owner was telling me an extra key was like $80 from the dealer since it includes an imobilizer chip.

True?

Peace- You can get a key on eBay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSA...spagenameZWDVW ), and if you search, I think there is a way to program it yourself, I did my own remotes and it was really easy
