lost my doot

You know that sound that you get when you lock the car door? Yeah well I seem to have lost mine. It made this really weird gurggling toot one day and then it just disappeared. My blinkers also won't flash anymore when i unlock the car. Its not the hold down unlock thing because i tried that at least 4 times. Does anyone know what the heck is going on with the alarm? My horn and alarm is fine and nothing is out of the ordinary except for the toot.

I also use to have this "doot-doot" sound for unlocking the car which is now gone. it definitely did not sound like the one you get when you hold down the unlock button. Now that I lost this last doot, I am distraught and heartbroken. Some things you just don't appreciate till you lose it. The ability to locate your car by holding the remote in the air and unlocking, The ability to smoothly walk away without looking at the car but still know the car is locked, and more importantly the ability to get hooligans sitting on your car off with a press of a button... gone all gone....

Seriously though, Anyone know whats going on in there?

check your owner's manual. there is a way to set the clicker to "silent" and to.....uh......"doot."

sounds like it might be in valet mode, is it an aftermarket alarm? i had this problem where it no longer "dooted" when i pushed the button but the lights still flashed. look under the steering column for a little button that you need to hold with the key in the ignition in on position for 10 seconds i believe

All you have to do is hold down the lock and unluck buttons simultanously until the marker lights flash, your doot will come back. Personally, I love that option, I'm not a fan of the doot

The marker lights will still flash, and the panic button should still work, at least it still does on the I35's and G35's that also have this feature

Hmmmm really? My car doesnt make a "doot" sound. When I lock my car the horn honks once... and when I unlock the car it doesnt make a sound. I held the unlock and lock button at the same time and got the marker lights flashing now my car just flashes its lights when locked and still no sound when unlocking.

"doot" = the horn?

My car never made any sounds when locking and unlocking the car... it flashes the lights when I lock it, nothing when I unlock it except the dome light turns on... I am going to try holding down the two buttons and see what happens...

Thats actually the sound I was talking about. It just made a gurgling honk one day and disappeared.

well if your panic button doesn't work I'd test the seperate alarm horn located near the timing cover
