6 speed swap done in 4 days!!!!
She's alive... Bought all the parts i needed... brought my car in Monday morning and the car was done today... It had absolutely no start up issues and I'm using my automatic ECU... I did buy a 6 speed ECU that i am sending to techno square and will be swapping that in also... For all you haters thats been writing all this BS about trade in your car and just buy a 6 speed lol...
This was done by my mechanic so i got a special price but lets just say that i spent about $1000 on parts if not less uuummm actually its more than $1000, its about $1350... but you have to do your homework and find your parts... bought the majority of my parts on car-parts.com and shifting cables, MT mount and flywheel bolts and some other miscellaneous parts from Nissan... the most expensive parts were the tranny obviously and shifting cables... took me a good 9 months to find all my parts... the work done on my car is immaculate... it looks stock... but it is work... a lot of cutting out holes for the clutch petal, the master cylinder and bolt holes for the MT mount... I say that it is definitely worth it... i do have a parts list so i will be posting it later with some pictures from my phone... remember this swap was done on a 5.5 gen..
Here are the pictures as promised....
My beast...
The interior changes..

Wow!!! This gives me hope to keep my I35.
Please post parts list. Will your mechanic do any other 6 speeds swaps? New York is not too far from me and I wouldn't mind getting the swap done.

i'm sorry to say this but you are bound to have problems.. if not right away, then later.. i mean, i really hope you don't have any problems, but i've learned that if it reaquired that much work, its not meant to be done. but hey, hope it all works out well for you.

Parts Needed:
(From Car-parts.com)
6 Speed Transmission
1 MT ECU
Both Manual drive shafts (its a MUST, buy with tranny if possible)
1 shifter console piece (interior), Shifter, Shifter **** & Boot
1 brake pedal
1 clutch pedal
1 Clutch master cylinder
1 slave cylinder for transmssion (optional, may come with tranny)
1 MT Fly wheel
1 MT Starter
(From Nissan)
Flywheel bolts (6)
Clutch bolts
Park/Neutral switch (optional, may come with pedals)
1 clutch kit (clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing) (could be bought used from junk yard)
1 Manual tranny mount
Locking pin and clip for the clutch pedal to the master cylinder (you could bend a nail but I would go to the dealer and pay $4)
1 shifting cable
In total including installation i paid $2500... but i got extra work done to my car so thats why i said special price.. He's repainting my front lip that my dad #$% up... but well worth it... My mechanic even used hydrolic lines for the master cylinder... i'm so impressed with the work done...
Important Info - the passenger side axle must be from a MT 02 - 03 Maxima... the shaft itself is longer than the AT one... AT Axel will not fit for its too short... MT axle shaft from the metal plate to the end should be at least 17'... if you try to buy this piece from your local parts store, they will sale you the wrong one because no body really carries it... must be purchased from a junk yard.. or if you have $800 to spend from the dealer...
Newly installed MT tranny mount...
And this is me all day... ITS DOABLE!!!!!

thats awesome. hope all is well.. It's be pretty fun to have a 6 speed..

These might not be that clear cause it was taken with my phone... but this picture is of that white rectangular shape over the caliper... That is where they cut out a whole to get to the corner of where the MT mount would be located.. this was done to create holes for the 4 bolts that hold the mount to the body...
this is of the shifter... both ECU's on the passenger floor... its only connect to the automatic one and works but you must change it to a manual ECU to get rid of the engine light and pass inspection...
This is just the pedals...
and this is the master cylinder... notice the hydrolic line...

I converted my car from a 3.0 auto to a 3.5 5spd... No problems for almost 2 years... Now it's getting the 6spd treatment. I understand that mods=increased risk for problems, but if you do it right you are golden.

wow thats crazy man!!! Huge congrats on that, everyone use to say how its not worth doing the 6MT swap, but some people are like me, they get attatched to the car, and to sell it just isnt an option.
Looks nice man, keep up the good work!

i assume he didn't know that the 04 maximas would work, which probably meant that he didn't know that the sentra spec v trannies would work (which would have been cheaper and all spec v has lsd), so given that he only had a choice from 02 03 lsd manuals, those are probably twice the price of a non lsd tranny (PROBABLY, NOT DEFINITE). don't know bout 6th gen lsd trannies, but spec v lsd trannies can be had for as low as 300 bucks because there are so many.
