HELP! Car won't start! Just get a clicking sound when I turn the key

I was installing sound deadening in my passenger door, when I noticed that my stereo stopped playing. I dismissed it, but when I went to start the car, all it did was click. I've narrowed down, that it's coming from the fuse box on the passenger side.

Here is what it does now:
  • Stereo display comes on, no sound
  • Clicking when I turn the ignition
  • Clicking when I have the lights on
  • The "door is open" chime comes on once w/o the key in the ignition, then no more.

HEEEEELP! I'm going to try to take pictures, and maybe some video of the sound.

id say random, dead circuit somewhere...have you taken all of the fuses out and checked to see if they are bridged or broken? you very well may have shorted something else out while working on your car. it happens...thats why they have that saying "if its not broken, don't fix it" because sometimes you'll do more damage to everything else while fixing a problem...VERY common in electronics.

what did you actually do in the process of installing this "deadening"? did you remove a speaker or a power lock connection, or a door open lamp, etc.

Disconnected the window switches, entry lamp, speaker, and power mirror. I checked the fuses in the cabin, and most of the ones on the driver's side near the battery. Not sure how to check the ones with the blue caps.

Yeah... I disturbed the "delicate equillibrium" that my car exists in.

all those symptoms point to a low battery...the click is the starter but there isnt enough power to get the car started. there is enough power for the lights, stereo, and chimes because those dont use as much power to actually crank the car.
get someone to jump you

to that...

you may even want to check if the connection to the terminal is good...that's all I had to do.

^^ there ya go... LOL

usually the click is a battery that u used all the juice out of... get a jump or new battery

BTW while working on ur car,.. not such a good idea to listen to the radio,..and

did u have ur keys in the accessory position or the one before it? because that

draws alot of power..also check how old is the battery is

Not in this car. Usually when the battery died in my other cars, it would just turn over slower. No clicking sound.

All I needed was a jump. After a few seconds of warming the car up, I noticed both heated seats were on... that was the killer. After that scare, I just started up my ipod.

At least now I have two doors with sound deadening!
