Squeeky Noise from tire.
Okay guys I have been away for a while so bare with me.
My 2001 SE has finally hit 80,000 miles and I have not done a single thing to it except for changing the oil and had to remove the heat shield on the exhaust... The car shifts and drives beautifully and I would like to drive it for another 100,000 miles, what do you think?
Anyway, I have recently noticed a squeeky noise when I go over pot holes or bumps etc. I am able to reproduce that noise by kick the front tire... I cant really tell where it's coming from though because it's raining today so I didnt feel like lifting the hood but it sounds like it is coming from under the hood, but why does it happen when I kick the tire OR when I slam the front passenger door closed... Any ideas?

Maybe a loose cotter pin on the axle nut!!! Worth a shot to check! You can take your center cap off to see! Unless it's coming from under the hood, maybe the actual hood is not sitting on the rubber stops! Just an idea! Good luck!

yeap bought it new...
So what are the cotter pins? Adn how can I check yo see if my hood is sitting on the stops? As you can tell I am a complete newbie at this. The only work I do on my car myself is the oil change

Check the car again when is not raining. If its making the noise when youre not moving it should be easy to pinpoint. Also read your manual to see what other maintenance should be done besides oil changes if you want the car to last.

okay guys just checked again. The squeek completely goes away once I pop the hood! Also I do not even have to lif the hood all the way up for the sound to go away. It is enough to just pull on the hood release inside the car and the sound goes away. I dont even have to full release it at the front...
I still have no idea how to adjust the hood though to get the sound to stop. Any help would be greatly apppreciated. Thanks guys.

There are two rubber hood stoppers right by the headlights that are used just for that. Unscrewing them alittle which will cause them to raise and have a tighter contact with the hood when it is closed.
See if it helps.

I had the same problem. All you have to do is put some electrical tape over the hood latch. Just two times around worked for me. I'm talking about that piece that is attached to the hood.
Let us know if it worked

a+prince1 the stoppers are almost all the way out so that didn't work.
CkOTuHA your method DID WORk!!! Thanks so much!!! The problem is completely fixed the noise went away and not the hood closes nice and tight! WOW!
I wonder how you managed to firgure that one out. I would have never thought of it.
Now I just need to fix the ticking sound that is coming out of my wheel and I'll be set. Unfortunately I dont think electrical tape will fix it lol. If anyone feels like checking it out it's in my other thread. Thanks.
