00-01 Intake Manifold

I have been thinking about pulling the upper part of my Intake manifold off and doing a few things to it. Oxidization is really starting to build up on it and i think it looks horrible, is it possible to paint it? My friend told me i could try it but its very likely the paint will bubble b/c it wont adhere very well to it. Also a few days ago i stuck my finger behind the throttle body and i could feel all the grime in there.

So i was thinking of pulling off the manifold, painting it black, a few other pieces, and cleaning the inside of the manifold and check my vias. Is this just going to wind up being a waist of time?

Paint it the same color as your car, that would look sweet.

I think that would look tacky honestly, a gold intake manifold just sounds weird, mebey silver but NO gold on my engine lol i prefer the clean black look that im going for.

I'd paint it a shinier black.

I'm pretty sure you would be the first. Just prep the plastic well and make sure you use paint that will stick to plastic.

Normally the texture on cast stuff like that makes shiny paint look like crap. If you have the time sand it down smooth but that is a major PITA I had good luck painting a brand new aftermarket IM gunmetal gray for a honda but that was a flat look so you couldn't see all the imperfections in the paint or manifold.
