Smoke

So i had surgery, i wasent allowed to drive my BABY, Its been 7 days, I went out to start her up and she fired right up but i was engulfed in a huge ploom of white smoke from the exhaust, Is this normal after sitting awhile? Stuck valves/seals/seats worn?

white smoke = steam burning. if it was humid or had been raining recently, it was the water turning to steam and burning off.

blue smoke = bad.

I dont think it was steam since it was a rather warm dry day, plus it stank real bad like dodge caravan that leaves a smoke screen everywhere they go

its not steam burning off. It was most likely a little oil. Depending on the mileage, your vavle seals might not seal totally well and the oil will leak past them, flow down the stem of the valve into the cylinder and then you start the car and the ignition burns the oil. If it smoked all the time then that means piston rings but on start up usually means valve seals.

I figured as much, the car has 115k miles on it, is it really worth the effort to replace the valve seals ? or shall i let it go till something that requires me to remove the heads to service them ?

That's good to know... I intermittently have white smoke at startup, engine idles rough for a split second while it coughs up the smoke and it smells like burning oil. I've only had this happen once in the past month.
