Cleared headlight lens question

Anyone that has done this, the walkthrough says to buy a clear lens from home depot or a frosted lens from tap plastics.

My question is, was anyone able to find exactly what they needed at home depot. What size and where was it. I cannot take my headlight apart yet to measure and test size, but I want to go ahead and buy the clear lens.

Just let me know what exactly you bought from home depot.

Ha. I just did this tedius job yesterday actually. I bought the Malibu's like the walk thru told me to. Those Tap Plastic ones would be your only exact fitting lens, but they're frosted and I figured it wouldnt look right.

To answer your question, the best thing to get is the Malibu's and cut em up. Just make sure you have a Dremel or you're screwed.

No doubt, I'm actually considering returning my malibu lenses back to home depot and going no lense at all. Then again I could just go ahead regardless, if I'm going to have the unit opened up one way or the other, might as well just put the clear lense on there for that added protection (just in case i suppose).

Has anyone done any Halo rings around both the actual lights and even possibly the fogs? If so how can I find the parts to do this mod? I also need to clear the yellow blinker. Which bulb is it from autolumination. Thanks in advance.

Are you lookinng at housecor's how to? -- http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/clear_HIDs.html

He has a picture of the exact light you need, malibu ML11P2. They are in the outdoor lighting section. They are not the exact size, you have to trace the orange lens on them then cut out a piece. You may have to try more than one store. I found A set at my local Home Depot last week, my angel eyes arrived today . Hopefully I will have a chance to install everything in the next couple of days.

You do know you don't have to use the Malibu one right? So long as it's a plastic lens that is oversized then you can use it. Just cut it to shape. Seal it in place and your straight. Juts make sure the lens is a little concave so it gives you that affect. However, it's not a must so whateva.

Squirrel: DO IT!!!

Go to HD, look in the lighting section. So long as the lenz is oversized then you can use your dremel to cut it down to size. Make sure to get some apoxy because you are going to seal it back in place. There is a small lip on the inside for your new cover to sit so you'll have the room to put the apoxy without it being seen.

I found some off of a curve light. Usually used for the walk way lighting. It worked out great for me.

This may sound funny but you can use the plastic cover from the lamps or ceiling fans. They are large enough and you can get both out of one.

I am thinking about clearing my headlights and painting them black or just leaving them silver but I have one question, after you put the headlight back together do you need to put some more glue or silicon on??? Housecor's site says just use channel locks to assure a tight seal so I am confused, a buddy of mine used silicon and his headlights look like crap...

After putting it back together. Bake it for a small amount of time say 5-8 mins. To warm the glue up again. Take a few clamps and clamp it to ensure a tight seal.

I've seen work done with silicone and yes...doesn't look pretty haha. Someone here actually still had condensation on the lense. So I with that, I would use the above method.

yea, after putting my headlights back after clearing them, they were fogging after a few days. so i baked them again re opened and cleaned the inside since there were some water marks. put the silicone sealant and they never leaked or fogged again. so its better to put them on so it doesnt leak in the future. its kinda sloppy, but you cant see them when the hood is closed, and its clear so its not that bad.

They dont sell just the lenses. Its a bag of two lightbulbs which you have to pry the plastic lense off the light bulb..I found it in the college park home depot off Rt1.It was in the outdoor lightning section.
My lights were fine for a couple of weeks until the day of a meet around here.I washed it in the morning getting ready to go and my passenger light fogged up like crazy.I stuck a heat lamp on it to get the moisture out. After that I ran a small bead of clear silicone all the way around the seams of both lights and no ploblems. Its not visible from outside.
Orgullo, that was posted before I sprayed them black.
