steering wheel audio controls

Did the steering wheel audio controls only appear 2001 and later, or were they available in the 2000? Every 2000 I see on ebay doesn't have them.

I think you are right because mine is a 2001 and I have the audio controls on the steering wheel. I could be wrong?

Sorry to thread cap but if an aftermarket head unit where to be installed, would the audio controls on the steering wheel still work? I am thinking of upgrading the system to one that can play mp3s etc.

Thanks in advance,

2000's DID NOT come with steering wheel controls, no matter the system you got.

They only came on the 2001's+, and no... You can't put them in a 2000 unless you swap out the steering wheel, clock spring and headunit.

Yes it is common... Replacements are pretty cheap through the dealer.

are the controls on certain models or you'd have to customize through manufacture

i got mine off EBAY for 30 bucks shipping

i ordered the PAC SWI PS (PS= Pioneer and Sony) because i have a sony head unit. The PAC SWI-X is a universal one, that uses Infrared in some of the older ones and i think some of the newer ones uses RF (Radio Frequency)
