Possible to length exhaust tips w/o buying new ones?

The HKS Sport muffler on my I35 comes 3-4" short of the bumper, essentially it is tucked in. It has been fine for the last 6 months, but after a 12 hour drive it melted my bumper pretty bad. I like the HKS tips and was wondering if it is possible to lengthen them w/o buying new tips? (maybe cut off, add 3" of exhaust piping and re-weld?)

"cut off muffler & add 3" of exhaust piping and re-weld."

Thats what a shop will do. Should cost you $50 or less. It's what i would do as well for what it's worth.

Good Luck!
