Question About sunroof buttons/maplight console???

well to start off, I ran into a issue with my maplight console. Its been a on going problem with the contacts in my maplight not always touching the bulb. Which basically ment that sometimes when I turned it on/off it would not always work. Well to make a long story short...I broke one of the map light contacts, which now renders my maplight useless.

As you all know, all the 2k-2k1 cars that came with a sunroof only had ONE maplight. While the 2k2-2k3 cars that came with sunroof's all had TWO maplights along with the sun roof controls.

Now I'm wondering before I call Dave B and order a new assembly, if the 2k2 sunroof/maplight assemblies would work in a 2k1 model car?

If so are there more wiring for the extra map light?

Is there an extra fuse that needs to be used or a higher amp fuse needed?

Are they even plug n play with the sun roof controls?

The reason I ask is if I can have the extra maplight, hell why not.....

Thanks

(sorry for the typo's before, i typed the post initially from my treo)

Other buttons question

Hallo
Sorry to hijack your thread but I can't post a new one due to server rules.
I'm looking for a source to find replacement buttons for the climate control system. Specifically I'd like the on/off button for the fan and the defroster button. They have fallen off because I don't know my own strength.
I hope these are sold individually, can anybody provide additional info?
Thanks and have a blessed day.

what slider feature do you speak of??

but to answer your question, no, i did not get my answer yet. It seems like DAVE B and the parts department must be really busy ive been trying to contact him for two days, and NO ONE, and i mean NO ONE is answering the phone..

i just did this swap in my 2k and the lights work with no problem. however the sunroof switch is a whole different story. plugged it in and didnt work and seems there are a couple of more contacts in the 2k plug. i actually pried apart both assemblies and swapped the switches, which are not a perfect fit. not a 2k1 but my 02 cents

i kinda figured that the 2k2 sunroof switch wouldnt be PnP with the 2k1 sunroof socket...Do you think possible for me to unscrew the 2k1 sunroof switch board, and screw it into the 2k2 console? Do you get what im saying?

i think swiyzee might be talking about the one touch slide open/close.. i think every maxima came with that.. just gotta push the button forward/back to a second notch or a lil harder than you usualy would and it should work. sorta like the one touch open/close on the drivers window.

if you have time would you mind taking a picture, for an illustration purpose, of how it looks sitting at the top of your roof? Id really appreciate it...not of the control or anything but just of how the console sits up at the top

to clear up the confusion with the "slider" i was talking about, the 2k-2k1's come with 2 switches on the sunroof control, one for vent and one for opening and closing. on the other hand the 2k2-2k3's come with one switch for venting and the other is a type of slider thing for the sunroof opening and closing. its a 4 position slider and the position of the slider coincides with the position of the sunroof. for example, if i "slide" the switch 3/4 of the way back, the sunroof only opens 3/4 of the way, and it goes the same for every other position. just ask one of your 5.5 friends to show this to you, i swear you will want it too!
