unplug the MAF connector (on the midpipe). Then the car should be able to turn on and run, but will only go up to about 2500rpms (in "safe mode") so you'll have to go slow. Then get a new MAF and install....

We called a dealer in the spokane area and they wanted to charge us about $500 for a new MAF and said we had to buy the pipe too. Is this normal?

Yes it is normal for dealership (better known as Stealership ) to charge you arm & leg for something so small....I went in to ask how much to replace "ONE" oxygen sensor(Automall46/nissan46 in totowa, nj)...they said $1985 because they said its required by them to replace both rear O2's + fuel system cleanings + 30,000 mile service (optional) but without the 30,000 they wanted to charge me $980.00 or sumthng like that........call dave b and ask him to ship u the MAF to ur hotel ...he'll be reall good help...

$500 is about right for a 5.5 gen. Ask for a MAF for the 5 gen max. Should be around $100. Take the thermistor off your old one and attach to the new MAF. The thermistor is the only difference between the two MAFs and why it costs $400 more.

Read through this thread if you have time. Itl tell you how to save yourself $300 by buying the 2k1 maf instead of the more expensive 2k2. I just did this to my car and it runs perfectly fine again. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....58751&t=348395

Thanks for the help. We got a 2k2 MAF from a JY for $100 and we will probally get a 2k1 MAF when it breaks.

My one question is what is the IAT thing they talk about in the other thread? could anyone take a pic of it?

Thanks again,
Alex

That 'other thread' has pics, AND it's in the stickys.

*EDIT*
Saw that the pic isn't there. If I get bored alter I'll take a pi. But, it's not hard to see or figure out once you have the 2 pieces in front of you (01 and 03 units)
