Possible ECU Problem??

The strangest thing keeps happening to me, every time I full up which is with premium, my miles till empty keeps going up one week it would be 350, the next week 370 the next week 395, and yesterday was 405 miles until empty, and this has been happening for the last 2 months. Could there be something wrong with my ECU? I mean lately the car has been performing better especial with the a/c on which I find weird. I don't seem to be burning extra fuel or running rich, because I fill up every Thursday and get the same gallons to full up? I do have a check engine light on, which someone said its an crank/cam shaft sensor. Would that have anything to do with it????

You are questioning the performance of your car without first resolving the CEL?

How can that possibly be good?

no complaining about extra MPG's.

PS: crank/camshaft sensor has NOTHING to do with abs brake control. and if it was your ABS, the ABS light would be on

CEL relates only to the engine, typically.

Any Autozone or other parts store can read the code for you for free. Only then can you begin to diagnose your issue. As said before, ABS has its own fault lamp.

CEL illuminates for a reason; its needs to checked, even if the car is seemingly OK.

I think they were just trying to steer you in the right direction. First you have to know the problem to fix the problem. I would say just the others havr said... Get the codes your throwing and go from there

I was also told that autozone codes were universal and that they always throw the same codes, thats what to different nissan dealerships said. Is there some truth to this

the only truth there is that nissan techs want you to pay their diagnostic fee

No, I don't think that's exactly true. They'll give you an idea of what the problem is. I've never had problems with it...... and it's free so it can't hurt

1. we all know that the "distant to empty" is not accurate
2. you dont have to pay nissan to check a code
3. your ECU is fine

the DET isn't accurate (as in there's exactly that many miles left), but it is kind of accurate minus the extra 2.5 gallons that are still in the tank when I fill up lol.

Your going to have to do some reading..... and you could have searched your code number. Do that in the future. I don't know about your dte problem though

Why not buy an OBDII from a Pep boys, Sears, etc... You can reset the codes. Also, with the right model, you can find out what the codes mean. Its worth the money about $110 to $170. Buy it for your Nissan and it can be used in cars from 1994 going forward. Its worth the bucks!

He gave you the link to the stickies (which you failed to look at obviously). The stickies are there for a reason. All you had to do was search "P0021" and you would've got your answer on everything about that code. That's all i'm saying. If you can't do any amount of research yourself on your problem....... Good luck.
