I dont know if any of you guys ever felt this on your max's but on my 5.5 when I put it into 1st gear when slightly accelerating already (not from a dead stop) I noticed that my when I go to switch to 2nd all I have to do is barely touch the shifter and it goes into the neutral position, and I had an incident under hard acceleration in 1st that it actually popped out. Can anybody guess as to whet the problem can be?

Its probably the shims. The angle of the mainshaft and the gears when accelerating if the gear is not totally engaged will cause this.

any update i noticed mine will do this from time to time. I just had clutch replaced.

ive got a 5spd and i have noticed it for all 4 years that i have had it. i now have a STS and that bushing upgrade 5spd owners can get, and i still have it sometimes.

just seems to happen randomly, no noticeable reason for the cause.
