Bolts for the MAF Sensor

Last night I changed the MAF not a big deal. However, I broke one of the bolts holding it and had to grind it out with a dremel tool, drilled a hole in it and was finally able to get it out using a nail as a handle. Now I know not to over do it, but I wonder if the bolt went bad some how. This bolt is 10mm and is about 1 inch. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Also, these are just 10mm, 1 inch bolts according to Nissan. The local dealer did not have the bolts in stock and said they were common.

I'm not sure what to make of this. This is a maxima forum and your asking if there have been problems with bolts?

Are you actually talking about those 4 bolts that hold MAF tube to the airfilter box, right? 6mm bolts with 10mm hex head?

I can't believe your local dealer doesn't have any bolts. Just about everything in Maxima's the engine bay is held down by the same 10mm bolt. Go to your local hardware store or Autozone. They should have replacement bolts.

After the dealer said they did not have them, he said Home Depot and off I went. I didn't even tighten these up that much which is what surprised me.

Here's the thing. Mine were not rusty! I know that I did not tighten them up that much either. So, I got a couple at Home depot and swapped it with another one that was easily accessible. I think the bolts in the engine are a grade 8 type. This was very unusual for me when it happened.

No I had the torx bit and even cleaned the sensor as well with MAF cleaner. I removed it and followed what I received in the box, even though most people said you did not have to change it.
