Installed some hid but having trouble help please!!

I bought a bi Xenon kit and installed it today but i have a problem with it. The bulb has a hid bulb and a small halogen bulb hooked together not the one with the solonoid. the problem is after i hooked them up I noticed that the hi beam indicator on the dash was on but the light switch was on the low beam the i switched to hi beam the indicator was still lit but no difference on the headlight. I put the old bulbs back to see if ne things wrong with the connection but then it worked fine. so i switched hid for hi and halogen for low the switch seems to work fine the indicator lit when its supposed to but the hid didnt lite up, so i hooked them back hid on low bean and unhooked the hi beam halogen bulb now it all works fine but nothin on hi beam so any thing to do about this ne ideas why it happen or is it supposed to happen my car is a 2001 se
thanks

My low beam only kit does it. You'll learn to live with it.

1. You need a tester. You can use it to determine which wire on the headlight harness is positive low beam, positive high beam and ground. Now I will warn you, the wires have different colors on either sides so you will need to repeat these steps twice.
a) Turn on your low beam after disconnecting the H3 connector.
b)connect the tester to a ground and use the tip to touch the three ports, one at a time. Positive low beam should turn the tester on.
c) Do the same thing while the light is on high beam and note the high beam wire.
d)the third wire should be the negative(ground).
e) Now rewire the male H3 connector according to your findings.
f) repeat these steps for the other headlight.
g)Note that your HID will turn off with high beams on because 00/01 Maximas were made this way. You will need a relay to enable both the high beam and the HID to stay on in high beam mode.

Hope this helps.

so you have a halogen bulb attatched to your hid bulb? and it switches from halogen to hid for high beam and low beam? i had no idea that they made bulbs like that, but the one piece of advice i can give you is to make sure that the ENGINE is on when testing your lights... not just the battery... i was testing my lights with just the battery on and thought there was a problem with my high beams.. but i was an idiot, and didn't realize that high beams dont come on when just the battery is on.. and that the engine has to be on for the high beams to work.. didnt know that
