Did you have the 3.5 in your car? Might this have been an oil consumption issue? You said that the all knowing fire department deemed it as originating in the engine dept, (or something like that) Just throwing it out there.

I guess I'll ask again;

Is this problem with the VQ30 as well or just the 35? I'm surprised there is no recall for it.
