VIAS power rod modifications?

VIAS power rod modifications?

I had a feeling that my VIAS was broken yet again... so instead of doing another JB job I decided to take the power rod completely out. Like other threads have mentioned the the top end of the car >5k felt amazing... the rest of the power band was blah. I definitely hit the rev limiter a bunch of times, the RPM's take of like a rocket after 5k.

What I wanted to know was is there any mods I can do to get back _some_ of the torque I lost in the low and mid range... or is there anything I can do the power rod itself to make it flow better (like thinning out the flat sections)? I really like having the extra top end but don't think I want to give up _all_ that low end. I don't have piggyback/standalone ecu yet so _tuning_ is out of the question for now. Any suggestions?

Without any software enhancements, you're SOL on adding any more midrange.

has anyone ground/sanded down the power rod so that the _valve_ parts are thinner?

Not worth the trouble/effort IMO. Just take it out.

Well I got my wisdom teeth taken out friday morning and since I didnt have much else to do while I thinned out my power rod. I left one of the valves the regular thickness in this picture for comparison sake. I haven't decided if its going in yet cause not having the power rod in at all does make for a lot of fun! Anyway, that plastic was hard as hell and took a while to dremmel down. It flexes a little when you try to bend it but it shouldn't. ever experience that type of force in the engine. I might mill it down a little more.

what about cutting out the valve parts completly and epoxying/jb weld thin rectangles of sheet metal in there... that would have to flow almost as good as not having the rod in there at all
