This Got me ConfuseD.. Oil Prob.. cattman headers prob.

I always do all my oil changes my self.. but 1 day got lazy and went to LMC (this place by me thats does oil changes etc)... I always put castrol GTX oil 10W 30 in my car, and i told the guy thats what i wanted and thats what he put in. after the oil change was done as soon as he started the car my car started to SMOKE ! the exhaust was smoking..white clouds... it did that for about 15 min... and then went away. and never did it again... i checked the oil and it was fine. WTF happened ??

2nd thing...

I have the new Gen 3 cattman headers on my car... i had em put on like a couple months ago. I used the OEM nissan gaskets . The car ran great but after 2 weeks i heard a leak. after a month it got BAD, and it was leaking from the rear headers. so i thought i had a bad gasket. went back to nissan bought another 1, took off the rear headers replaced the rear header gasket and drove around problem fixed. after 1 month again i hear a leak.. about 1 month after that .. ONCE again the rear headers are leaking ! So my question is WTF is going on ? do you think my headers are warped and need to be sanded straight ? i mean what should i do ?

He got oil on your secondary pipe and did not bother cleaning it off...

As far as the leak goes... I would pull the rear manifold and make sure that it is not warped, if it is... call Brian, he will take care of it.

The smoke was coming OUT of the muffler or just the exhaust in general near the y pipe, etc. was smoking? Spilling oil on exhaust won't cause the gases inside to come out of the tailpipe as smoke like has been described if I am reading it correctly.

As for the gasket, when you swapped out that first one what did it look like? Noticeable spot(s) where a leak is apparent? Not sure what options besides Nissan OEM gaskets are out there but you may also try some copper RTV silicone sealant coupled with the OEM gaskets next time.

no he didnt spill ANYTHING on the exhasut it was actuall smoke out the exhasut it self, he used 1 of those pumps that pumps oil into the motor... ( i dunno if that casued it ??)

Yea the header thing is SOOO pissign me off right now. i decided against driving the fukign car untill i get it fixed, i hate driving 1/2ased cars .

If the tech guy didn't spill oil on the headers/exhaust then he probably put to much oil in, so the overflow end up burning in the engine creating the white smoke.

As for the headers leaking, I personally think it could be 2 things:

1-Headers are not torque properly and once they reach their temperature the metal deform and heat burned the gasket which end up in a leak.

2- Headers are warped and does the same thing as my first explanation.

My 2 cents

I have the rear header leak too. Ive had mine on since March and the leak just showed up a few weeks ago. Its loud when i start the car, then goes away. Its very noticeable under hard pressure and theres a slight hissing sound when the throttle is let off completely. I used oem gaskets too, so eventhough NiSmOVQ35 says the leaks gonna come back, ive gotta try new gaskets before assuming the header is warped.

Are these headers known for warping?
