A new noise! Sounds like studded snows! Any suggestions?

Hi everyone,

I know I was due for some new shoes, I had a couple of nails in them, they were balding, you know, the usual. I was getting this clicking, a really light "t,t,t,t,t,t,t,t" with the rotation of the wheels. It really sounded like I was driving with studded snow tires, if anyone has heard that noise before. So, I figured that I had >3 nails somewhere in my tires, and passed it off. I just bought and mounted 4 new exclaim UHP's (which are def. as good as everyone says they are for the price), but alas, the noise is still there.

The noise doesn't sound like anything that is about to break, or any sort of "stress noise", but it's just an annoying tick, tick, tick sound. I looked at all of my suspension parts, and nothing seems out of place, loose, or in general need of repair. I did put on slotted/drilled rotors a month or so ago, but cannot recall if the noise started then. Could the rotors, bearings, or cv's be the culprit? Thanks for suggestions

Brian

Better description? Point of origin?

Point of Origin: Outside the vehicle, heard at low to moderate speeds, seems to be directly related to the speed of the vehicle.

Not heard inside the vehicle. It seems louder on the drivers side then on the passenger side (though I'm never on the passenger side)

I know I have a passenger side wheel bearing issue, I get the tell-tale whirring, gets louder under load, but not that bad yet.

You can really hear the "tick, tick, tick, tick, tick" if you drive by a brick wall or something that will reflect the noise. Again, it sounds like studded snow tires.

could be the wear indicators on the brake pads hitting the slots in the rotors, check pads and brake hardware.

could be the metal clip from the caliper hitting the spokes of the wheels? thats a pretty quite sound but you never know. easy to check though.

im talking about the thin metal piece that sticks into the loop on the pads
