How much is my car worth? (Chicago, IL) 2kSE5spd bk/bk

I have a 2k SE 5spd I am considering selling. It is black on black on black leather, 90k. There is a check engine light, it needs a rear O2 sensor. (or two) The book is around 8.5. What is a fair price to ask? It's rare, and sexy. Stock except for the alpine speakers and deck with iPod attachment. Anyone?

Thanks!

What about without the alpine deck?

Also has a 640w kenwood amp.

i'd say about 6.5. i had one w/ way w/ hids, stillen kit/suspension that sold for 6.4k. it had 105,000. blue book value gives you a VERY general idea. real world buyers aren't as generous as blue book or nada.

Ouch, but still not low-balling I guess?

I'll throw in a date with my girlfriend for 7.5.

That and they should know the market very well, so you cannot get 'more' just because it's rare and sold to an enthusiast.

For 8k I'd pick up a sued 2k26MT BLK/BLK. More miles, but more fun IMO.

With 5.5 gens now selling for as low as $10K the 5th gens have become disposable and unwanted.

I just paid $10,000 plus $1000 for a warranty for a 2001 SE 20th anniversary, black on black leather. ALL options and 99k miles. It runs well and is in great condition. Good price and good purchase?

I wish you guys would go to autotrader and look at my 2001 20th AE for sale. It has miles (126,000 or so...) and tears on the drivers seat. But it also has 18" chrome wheels off of an 04 and runs great, with a recent clutch and brakes.
I am trying to get rid of it and have it at only $7000.

AE's usually book for more than their 5.5Gen counterparts, at least in my Zip code.

What is a book value for if we aren't supposed to use it to purchase a vehicle? So basically, if the car I look up books at $11,xxx and I pay $10k for it, I was actually supposed to subtract more like 3 or 4 thousand from the book to get a good value price? I totally understand that paying less is better, but how do I determine what is reasonable?

If people actually knew that the 5th gen is the more desirable car than a 5.5 gen.....

Trade in- worth bout 6K dollars.

KBB is BS. Dealers use Mannheim Auto Auction average selling price for that week- and determine the car value using the numbers the cars bring in at a auction.

Unfortunately although you might have a nice car...the truth is its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. or what the stealership is willing to take it from you for. Truth hurts. Unless your pops owns the dealership of course the you'd get primo value.
