Re: Re: You must develop your "speeder's 6th sense"

Hey...nice ride I was thinking about getting a new 2k max. How do you like it? By the way..where do you live? The houses in your pik look pretty sweet...somewhere in cali?

So true!

I got a ticket for not realizing the speed limit dropped from 65-to-55(clocked at 71mph), also because it was a new car and I wasn't used to how easily and smoothly it rode around the curves(D!CK cop even said that, but still gave me a ticket). First speeding ticket ever and I'm 23! Then I bought a Valentine One and it's SAVED my A$$ several times.

It's already paid for itself! It's not 100% going to save you, but even if it saves you one serious ticket, it's worth it.

I was flipping throught the tv channels the other day and there was a show on TLC on how to get away with speeding. I thought, cool, i'll check this out. In cooperation with the CHP, TLC came up with a test to figure out with Radar detector really worked the best. Also they had a device that totally jammed laser. I didn't get to see which radar detector won(that was before I flipped to that channel), but I did get to see the laser jammer. The CHP was saying that they hate this product because it works 100% of the time. They tried targeting the test car 4 times at varying speeds from 75-35 mph, never a hit. The CHP went on to say that Since laser is basically light, it cannot be regulated by the FCC(like radar is). So, a laser jammer isn't illegal like a radar jammer is. All the person has to do is put the device somewhere in their car and they are immune to laser.
I thought that was pretty cool.

PS in case anyone is wondering CHP is California Highway Patrol.

I was doing 80-mph on a deserted stretch of highway posted for 55-mph. In fact, I had my cruise control on. I topped a steep hill, and not 150' in front of me, coming from the opposite direction, was a State Highway Patrol cruiser. I had no warning at all. He zapped [and nailed] me instantly.

I was shocked and surprised to see him so close. At the same moment, I was startled as the alarm on my detector went off, too! I was so flustered, I couldn't even get my cruise control disengaged for what seemed like FOREVER!

Before he got turned around and overtook me, I stowed my detector out of sight. I thought that action would make the situation more "aesthetically pleasing" for Mr. Bear.

Unfortunately, he had seen my detector clearly, and he was totally unimpressed by my sensitivity, to wit:

"Here's your ticket. Slow down. Have a happy day."

HA HAAA

I have ONLY gotten tickets when I trusted in the detector! Texas highway patrol use Instant-On radar... one blip, the detector goes off but too late. That means you better not be in front of the pack... or alone on the highway.

I don't use radar detectors any more. They are worthless.

First of all there is absolutely no way to get around Instant-ON, absolutely no way. My friend is a police officer and he showed me his radar gun, and it is exactly what it does. INSTANT-ON. Your radar detector will never work.

And for LASER, $hit..... The thing can hit your car so fast that the radar detector dont even have time to know what hit it. I got hit with LASER in Ohio on the turnpike and I had the most expensive Radar detector, the Bell 855Sti at the time 3yrs ago. That joint never even went off.

Dixit
I have a Passport 7500........saved my butt countless times. As far as Laser goes, it takes 2 to 3 seconds for the transmitter to lock in your speed......you must STOMP the brakes as soon as the detector rings....I've beaten Laser several times this way.

Re: My speeding tips

Also, if you have a car like a black corvette or some other dark colorer hidden headlamp, no chrome or license plate on the front car, you are practically laser proof. I used to have a dark green 96 Probe GT that couldn't be lasered, it was fun driving past cops who were literally shaking their laser gun at me. Laser needs a reflective surface to bounce the beam back to the cop.

...........................
I have a black I30. If you put those black GT headlight covers on, will that have the same effect and decrease the chance of being hit by laser?
