5spd Eclipse GT... no match!
I actually got in two runs on my way home. The first was with a full-sized Chevy P/U that was zipping in and out of traffic. I caught him at a stop light after showing my interest in racing a little earlier. I was behind him in the center lane. The light turned and we both punched it. He got over to the right once it opened up and I walked by shortly thereafter. He took a right a few streets after that. Not that interesting a race, since I expected to pull him.
Now on for bigger and better kills. A couple miles down the road, I hit another light. I'm in the right lane and am the second car at the light. At the front of the left lane is a burgundy Eclipse GT. I rolled down my window to listen to him take off at the green and what do you know... he's a stick. Oh boy this should be interesting!
I was able to get around the guy in front of me and I caught up to the Eclipse. I looked over at him but got no response. So, I lurched forward a bit and casually slowed back down to my normal speed. Still no bite! D@mn, it didn't look like this guy was going to race!
Well, my street starts to hit the "country" and we go from stop light intersections to stop signs. I'm in the left lane and one car back in the right is the Eclipse. Luckily no one was behind me in my lane, so I waited an extra turn just to line up with the Eclipse. Cross traffic clears and we both punch it. He pulls a few feet on me in first, but due to my tall-a$$ed automagic gearing, he grabs second before me at which time, I pass him up. Now I have a half car and am starting to pull. Through second I stretch it out to about 2 car lengths or so, at which time he lets off and starts to fall back quickly. I realize that they only have 200hp but he was a stick and my car's a dog off the line. Still, it made for an interesting ride home from work!

I was just trying to quiet it back down. This was done when I was in my noise dilemma after installing my Y-pipe. I really liked the "custom" Greddy cat-back and didn't want to get rid of it, so I decided to see if the car was quiet enough without the intake first. Well, it wasn't and I replaced the Greddy muffler with my stocker, which did the trick. I have since done the OSCAI w/ K&N panel filter and am happy with the results. I'm kinda hanging onto the JWT POP just because I haven't given up on the idea of reinstalling it.

Sucka! I'll take yo ***!! That driver sucks. Okay, really, nobody who owns a Eclipse should think that they are badass. It looks like a sportscar but that's it. But! I would still beat you.

I used to own a '96 GS-T and was very sorry to see the turbo-4 setup go bye-bye. I dynoed at 260fwhp before I added a Quaife LSD, RRE lightened flywheel and a ported O2 sensor housing. I figure I was making at least 265fwhp after those mods... that's 320 at the crank out of a 2 liter engine. If I could do that on my Max's 3 liters, I'd be making 480hp! Woo-hoo!!!
And Maxx-s-ter, no, I didn't feel any performance difference between the Greddy muffler and the stock muffler. If you check out my website, I have estimated HP numbers for my car at each of it's various stages. I think I gave the entire cat-back an estimated gain of 2hp. Gee, I only need 110 more cat-backs on my car to reach that 480hp!
