Just happened about 20 minutes ago. He kept toying with me, he would go slow, when I was about to pass, he would speed up. Luckily we came to a light that was red and just about to turn green. I had come to a complete stop, he didn't, he might have been going 5 mph or so when it turned green. I pulled out normally not wanting to look like a jerk if he did not want to race, but then I heard him floor the car. I did the same, but was going 10 or so mph when I did. I did not slip the clutch at all. I quikly pulled even with him and passed him when I shifted to 2nd (GXE 5spd only k&n). By the time I shifted to third, I could just start to see him in my rearview mirror.

I just looked in Motor Trend, and a 99 did the 0-60 in 7.6 and 1/4 in 15.7 @ 89 (automatic).

I thought he had a manual, but not sure if they make one.

I find somthing wrong with your story...There is no clk 230 kompresser...Theres a clk 320 and 430 and a clk 55 amg...but no clk kompresser. There is a slk 230 kompresser...is that what it was?

probably so, if it was a clk, i dont think he would have seen it in his rearview mirror.

Actually, I saw a clk 230 Kompressor at my work like two weeks ago. I was pretty impressed...

Which I'd been running it!

Re: Raced a Mercedes 230

The type of body will tell you the letters. Was it a 2 door convertible/roadster, like a Mazda Miata and Honda S2000?? Or was it a 2 door coupe, like a Camry Solara??

If it was the convertible, then it was an SLK. If it was a coupe, then it was a CLK.

It probably was an SLK, because they have the 230 compressor engine standard.

The one I raced had 4 doors.

Isn't this car an underpowered 4 cyclinder? I could have probably given him a good run in my 89 160 hp Max SE, 5 speed!

Re: Re: Re: Raced a Mercedes 230

Then you raced the C230 KOMPRESSOR, the baby benz. Smaller than the E class, not nearly as respectfull as the venerable S class.

Did you notice how those kompressor engines sound so weird?? They've got power, but the engine sounds don't compliment them at all.

Not too underpowered

That supercharged 4 banger puts out 185 hp and 200 ft lbs of torque. Almost indentical to the mighty VQ. Sorry bud, but he would have taken your VG. Not to worry tho, I would have given him a good battle, and would win

actually, it would be hard to tells ince the SLK is a hardtop convertable thing(looks like a coupe) and the clk also come in convertables. the body size would be the only way to tell. but i guess he figured it was a C230 K. good race. i was thinkin about getting one of those before the max.. but way too underpowered...
