I wanted to know if the 2000 maxima lighting wiring harness is the same as the 2002 maxima? I was thinking of adding the 2002 xenon lights to my 2000 maxima. Is that possible? Anybody look into it?

Im not sure if you want to be spending $1600 for the headlight assembly. That aint no where worth it and it is cheaper just buying a HID kit like I did.

Bro..

I work at a Nissan store. I can get the WHOLE complete assembly for around $650-700. Thats both right and left. I just need to know whether or not the wiring is the same and if its able to handle the xenon gas.

Throw DaveB an email and ask him about changing the headlights into xeon lights would be a problem/or not for the 2k or 2k1 model. He is a Nissan dealer and he knows alot about parts for the Max.

No offense to anyone who is drooling over the 2k2 max, but I think the headlights look straight up butt ugly. I mean just raunchy-ugly ....

remember what a lot of people were saying how butt ugly the 5th gen looked when it first came out. I thought it was nice. Then it grows on you... I think the wiring harness will definately be different because it's a 4 light assembly. I looked closely at Maxus. The hight beams are 9007, and the low beams are of course, HID, which means it probably has a ballast somewhere. I didn't see it in sight. And it had some kind of harness going to the low beams. I didn't snoop too much. but I think if you get all the parts that go with it and know how to splice wires, it should fit. The hardware mounting points and overall shape of the headlights look just like the 00-01 and the rears are the same too. Just in clear and chrome inserts.

I know what you mean. I as well thought the butt of the maxima was ugly, but it does grow on you. I know the headlights will grow BigDog. :] Keep me posted if the headlights can fit on the 00-01 maxima. I am always busy and I dn't have time to talk to the mechanics. I could get even get a better price with my discount. If they fit, I'll hook everybody up with my price. Be about $160-200 a headlight assembly. ;]

Wait a minute, $160-200 per headlight assembly? That is $400 for the set? Impossible, the damn HID bulb and ballast alone cost that much.

Or is that price on an above the dealer cost?

That is the whole assembly! Its hard to imagine. I thought I was wrong, but when I had my friend at parts look it up, he was just amazed as I was. The damn xenon bulb itself costs about $130-180. Then he told me the whole assembly would cost me about $180-200 each. I was like dang! To good to be true, but that is the price. The original price on that is about $250-300 each.

So you are telling me that the dealer is charging $1600 for a part that is $200?

So let me get this straight cause I am most likely gonna want one. it is $200 each for the whole assembly including the Xenon bulbs and balasts and everything, all I need to do is hook it up and turn it on. (Obviously I will have to modify the wiring harness, but that is pretty much it.)

Yep!

I was really surprised. I told him if that included everything, even the bulbs. He told me it did. I told him to order one, so I can see if its the real deal. I made sure when he looked it up, that he clicked the whole assembly, with the bulbs. I might triple check again, to be sure. I even aksed the Service manager and he told me it did include the bulbs. He was even surprised when I told him the price.

All, I was fortunate enough to get a close look at the 02's headlight assembly a couple days ago. The ballist sits right behind the xenon bulb. It's black and kind of an octaganal shape maybe 4" diameter with orange writing on it. As for the wiring, I'm sure the turn and side marker will be the same, but there are two in each one standard and one xenon. It will require some splicing, and probably a new relay. I'm guessing that of course the damn assembly will fit the early 5gen's since it's really expensive to re-engineer the hood and bulkhead up there.

Yep, at this time augie is right. The full Nissan list on the '02 HID's is in the early 200's. I have refrained from posting this 'cause ALL the '02 parts are not only back-ordered, but the orders I have placed have come back with the pricing at $0.0. Hmmm. The '01 I30 HID's are $1600, but the same technology on the Maxima is barely a fraction of that price? If Nissan really does end up selling them that cheap, rest assured, I will have the best deal. But, until I have invoiced parts in stock, I'm going to wait & see!
