I'd like to get a new intake, but there are two things that are stopping me.

1. If the intake is bringing more air in, then more contaminants can get into the engine, therefor cutting down on the life of the engine.

2. I have to survive rough NH winters with a lot of snow sometimes. How concerned to I have to be with having a CAI? I don't want to get snow/sand/salt into the intake.

Thanks for the help

If you go with an OSCAI then you have no issue since the stock airbox will trap all of that. Even if you go PRCAI the K&N style filter in the front will stop all of that too.

Any Intake will have a filter in the front to stop all that. If not then you have a major problem.

i was wondering about this issue too, but i decided to go for it through the custommaxima.com group deal, but i also picked up the AEM bypass valve which i believe is a must for rainy/snowy areas like here in NY..

The PRCAI at custommaxima that you bought. does that require you to drill a hole in ur car?

Yes it does require a hole. I think about 3.5" is about the size. I had thought of getting the bypass valve too just in case. Does the OSCAI still have the cool sound that the PR does?

The OSCAI I just put in with a large 3" Intake pipe gives me absolutely no sound difference. The only thing it did was give me more low end bite off the line.

It is nice and I would go with this way instead of spending $200+ on a PRCAI cause this way it retains stock and keeps the value of the car up.
