Guess what the top stollen vehicle for the month is? Ansewr: MAXIMA
Guys,
I'm from the east coast and looking for better ways of protecting my MAXIMA from these jerky thiefs. Any suggestions on what alarm systems or devices to use?
Thanks in advance..

Where I come from, on the west coast, the way cars are stolen nowadays is by carjacking. So the best security is driving through familiar neighborhoods, or taking routes where you don't have to stop at as many red lights. I've never heard of a moving-car-jacking.

I have the clifford 400. It's a pretty good alarm. And I got it set up with the proximity sensors. So if someone looks inside my window it will give a warning, and if I leave my window open and arm the alarm, when someone sticks their hand inside it will go off. the speaker goes for 10 minutes even if the wires are clipped. .

Alarms are easy to bypass. The key's help but it's not imposble infact if you want it you can have it. Best way to protect it is to not draw attention to it ie mods.
Other ways to protect include an alarm with the brain and wireing mounted in a unusal place ie not under the dash. brake lock, being 6-6 310lbs,a big *** dog. But other than thta if they want it they can get it.

The car should be impossible to start if your particular chip isn't present. If you need convincing, make a copy of the key from a regular blank, and try to start your car.
That'll stop anyone who just wants to steal your car for a joyride, but if they want to strip it and part it out, there's this thing called a tow-truck...

The chip in the key is a transponder, that tells the ECU that the car can be started. Without the chip present, the brains of the car shouldn't allow the car to be started.

Lojack... if your area has it
It's the only effective method. Like someone else said, if they want it they will get it no matter what security system it has. The just pull it out of the slot and crank it up on a flat-bed tow truck, alarm blasting and everyone ignoring it 'coz false alarms are so common they're a nuisance. By-standers just wish they'd hurry up and get gone with it, which they usually are in 30 seconds or less.
Lojack... the police can home in on where they take it and pay 'em a visit while they chop it, until they find the transmitter and smash it.
Ignition disablers, fuel cut-offs and alarms are only effective against wannabe joy-riders.
