My dad wants to hook me up with aftermarket fogs for the Max. I have the GXE (hence no fog lamps).

Which ones fit? Which ones are bright and look cool?

Any help would be appreciated.

PIAA's products are the best out there.
PIAA 510 should fit the round whole on the Max.
I've seen them priced around $200 bucks for the whole
kit.

Here is one place for example

I have a GXE and added PIAA 510's. I got the ion crystal ones and they are bad a$$. The projection on them is amazing. It's a tight fit so I'm still trying to find the best angle.

Punch..

Are the 510's extremely bright? I've seen them in showrooms and they dont seem bright at all. Do you have pics? Thanks!

Cisco,
The ones I have are pretty damn bright. They shine as far if not further than our highbeams. Sorry, I dont have a digicam. If your looking for some try ebay. Thats where I got mine. I think they were $165 shipped.

So if you by that Pia kit, it includes everything your maxima needs to have the fog lights to function.
I thought you had to change the light switch inside the car, or am I wrong?

The switch comes with the PIAA kit.

piaa's are nice

if you want to put the fogs in the two holes where the stock fogs should be, then you should get the piaa 1100
they are the whitest and brightest it is so bright during the night you wont believe it, but if you are putting the fogs in the middle near the liscense plate, then i would reccomend the piaa 1900 or 1700, i am currently using the 1700, the color is similar to hid's

Whoa, thanks!

Thanks for your help you guys...

I'm talking about putting fogs in the little round holes in my bumper, not in the front valence.

I currently have PIAA Super Plasma H4 bulbs for the headlights, so which ones would match that color roughly?

What color is the ion crystal 510's? (currently considering those)

Can't we just buy the light control stalk (signalling stalk) from the SE or GLE for the GXE and then wire the Piaa's directly into the factory wiring? Then you won't have to drill through the firewall, and everything will look stock from the inside.

You could do that, but that would cost more $$. There is already a hole in the firewall for your turn signals and stuff. Its in the driverside wheel well. Thats where my wires go through.

The Ion Crystal's are yellow. A lot of suvs have them on their brush guards.

melanthius: if you want to put the fog lights in the holes that are already there, then you should buy the piaa 1100's
i think they match any kind of headlight, because they are so damn bright
they are white not a bit of yellow or blue
they are the brightest fogs i ve seen, i would have gotten those if they fit in the middle, but i settled with the nice blueish color of the 1700's

cisco: here is a pic, they are actually brighter, because i took this pic in light, at night they look the same as hid's, because my tutor's 3.2 tl has the same fog light and i ve seen his car at night, it looks the same as his headlights

    melanthius:
none of the fogs in my pic are the 1100's
my fogs are the 1700's that cisco asked for a pic of and the fogs in the wholes are the factory ones
the shape of the piaa 1100 fog light is round so it would fit in the two whole fine
when you buy the piaa fogs, they come with the bulbs already

So is it merely speculation that the 1100's *SHOULD* fit because they are round, or you have seen them installed on a 5th gen Maxima before? In the picture it looks like they have a bracket on the top that would prevent proper mounting. However, the 510's look like they would fit.

i ve seen the 1100's and i assume they will fit
so before you buy it you should ask if it will fit
but if you want it to look nice, 1100's would be the choice

1100's won't fit because of the hardware that comes
with it. 510's are the closest match to stock.

Your homepage doesn't appear to have any pictures on it, FYI. Maybe I'm wrong, but the link to your homepage takes me to a page with no pix.

    I also need good fogs...

Which PIAA are the best for real fog? Around the mountain side of Maryland (where I live) the morning fog is really bad so I need fog lights more for fog then style. Seems like the 959's have a wider angle (better?) but the 510 I.C.'s may have advantages I'm overlooking. From what I've heard the stock fog lights are an easy install but almost worthless (even though they use the same bulb as the PIAA).

If we can agree on a type maybe we can get a group buy!

How about OEM foglights? The kit is less than $200 and it includes a new turn signal stalk. Easy to install, since the car is prewired.

    OEM (stock) fog lights...

Are the OEM (stock) fog lights about the same as the aftermarket? I'm sure you would agree the most aftermarket items are a vast improvement over stock. I'd like to get stock since they're easier (and as low as $130 complete) but I've read many posts about the stock fog lights not helping much. I guess I need to see a side by side to see if the aftermarket fogs are worth it...or maybe I can even get away with H-3 4" round Blazers (they're under $25 at the hardware store).

    Thanks for the suggestion...

    Rude,

Aftermarket fogs may require a bit more due to routing the wires and all, but in the end it is worth it. I am running PIAA 510's, and they shine as far as my high-beams, but wider. I thought about getting OEM and replacing the bulbs with a yellow ones, but that would only change the color, not the projection. Good luck with your decision.

How did you install the PIAA 510's? When I looked at the maxima attachment it was two 3/8" holes spaced 2.25" apart but the 510's are a single 10mm center bolt, right? Did you make an adapter or drill?

OEM are easy but do they work as well as PIAA 510's? This morning the fog was very thick. I did see somebody with green tinted fog lights from a good distance but I'm not sure if it was because I wasn't used to it rather than some advantage. Anyhow, I saw the post, its:

You have to talk to a tech and ask for the best price...

I drilled a 10mm hole where there is a "step" in the housing. I have like a 1.5 inch bracket with one end screwed to the bumper and the other to the light.

how's the wiring? is it as simple as splicing into the positive and ground leads to the stock setup?
if it is, i'd prefer to use the stock switch on my turn signal than aftermarket switch.
