Was reading another thread where one of us fell to an Eclipse...and I'm very sure it was all the people in his car weighing him down.

Last week I'm cruising down a straight stretch of road @ 40 mph w/ a friend in the car. A gray Eclipse pulls on the road from a side street, and sidles up next to me. Three goofballs are gawking at us from inside that P.O.S. He drops into second and gives his car a rev and it lurches. Imagine a wide grin spreading across my face as I slide my auto tranny back into "2" and do the same. He goes, and I do the same...with the two lanes merging into one approx 300 yards ahead. He shifted into third while I was @ 5krpm in 2nd gear, so I laughed as I pulled out a car on him, and merged in front of him.

We both turn north onto the interstate, a little traffic in front of me on the on-ramp, and this guy frothing at the mouth behind me. At the bottom of the ramp he took a running start behind me as I was stuck behind a truck. I pull out one lane in 2nd @ 4.5krpm, and he pulls out 2 lanes, and we go. I had all four windows down and the sunroof open (can we say parachute?), and I just looked over my shoulder and grinned as he couldn't even touch my bumper. We waved good-bye as we pulled on him all the way to a speed I won't admit to. That's when I felt like a teenager again, hit my hazards, and slowed back down.
Weeeeeeeheeeeeeheeeeeheeee!

 

Good work smoking that Eclipse. Any idea what year and model it was?

It was definitely a new one. His exhaust note was nice, but I don't know the exact model...I only saw him out of my rear view mirror.

 

Nice You will definately get them on a rolling start. I love the stock exhaust note on those new Eclipse V6.

BTW.. What part of Minnesota are you from? I'm from Southwest.
