OSCAI and debris
#1
My OSCAI consists of a 2-inch vacuum tube connected to the stock air intake with a 3" to 2" coupler. I took it apart the other day to make a modification to it. When I removed the vacuum tube from the coupler all this sand and dust fell out. Should I be worried about this? The K&N drop-in filter doesn't look too bad (except for more bugs than I would have thought should be there) but there is quite a bit of sand and grit around the edges of it. I'm sure everything is fine but just wondering if anyone has any input. The bugs in the filter must come through the stock intake because my OSCAI has a fly screen in place on the intake end and there's no way they could have fit through there.
Also, how often should I clean the K&N filter? The manual says every 50K or something which seems like a really long time. I read somewhere that a slightly dirty filter is actually better than a clean one.
