Stage 4 looks good really good for the price but 300 hp is weak for all of that stuff...

So which pulley before you upgrade your TC and tranny internals?
Could I run a 3.125 with stock internals and my setup now (upgraded VB, tranny cooler) or would it be better to be conservative and run the 3.33? What is the difference in the cost of the stage 4 kit if you already have the blower but want the rest of the parts listed? Keep up the good work!

Stage 4 is basically a custom designed highboost kit, and will be priced @ almost $5000.
The Stage 1 will start @ $2800, Stage 2 @ $3100.

which "stage" were you running at? did you have the intercooler hooked up also? what psi were you running, and did it seem reliable? Sorry 'bout the 20 questions. but thanks for the info and good luck with all the development!

life of blown VQ
For all of yous what an S/C VQ, what should I expect in getting the stillen kit. Other than paying out the *** for it. As far as the car goes. Should I get used to the service engine soon light? Is there anyway for this to be a professional mod? I'd like add this to my car so I can have something fast but I'm wondering if I should just leave the max alone and by my friends modded 5.0 stang for $2k. Let me know.

thanks

I have a feeling I'll be looking for a new tranny once this gets put on. The car should be running around 11 psi or so. Wwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

Yes..... I'm nuts.

damn, i wonder what type of number you can do if you were to have a stick rather than auto.....

The check engine light doesn't really bother me. It doesn't affect driving...

$2k for a modded stang might be a better buy.

light
Really? That light is on ALL the time, you'd think stillen would have something for that considering they made the kit FOR the max. Man, $4k for only 100hp seems like alot of money to me, too bad though I want a faster car, no disrespect to maximas but I kinda wish I would've bought CL-s or something. It makes me mad that nobody offers mods for the max and if they do it's a sh*t load of money for like 18hp or something pathetic like that. Now don't get me wrong, I love this car...i'm more frustrated with not having enough money to do the S/C. Running out of options.....

Thanks.

Well, $60 more and you'll be putting down an extra 100 wheels hp's.

How does 350 whp sound? I don't think a CL-S can do that (w/o nitrous)... they don't even have a SC yet.

That is true. I just don't want to put the money into the SC have blow my freakin engine. From your exp have you had engine probs since that install. Also my max has lik 5k miles on it now it will have like 10k by the time i get the sc install probably. When did you put yours on, also...is there an honest to god difference, is it like driving a completely different car? I'd imagine that puts you in the same ball park as like transams and z28s wouldn't it?

No engine problems yet and I'm running an extremely small pulley. We installed it 2-3 months ago (I think). You'll feel a big difference between boosted vs. non-boosted. I've gotten used to the power, so my butt dyno says the car is slow... again. But if you sit in a non-boosted car then go back to a boosted car, you're definitely going to feel a difference.

Yup, the SC puts me within their range.

the stock pulley does not cause the check engine light to come on...4k for over a 100 hp ain't bad besides avalon has it for 3700 thats not bad check around for complete blower kits for other cars that use eton or vortech blowers there all about 3k so it's not to to bad.

Thanks, I'll check around. As much as people say $tillen sucks, I still think that they will be the people to get my money. I'm going to check into Avalon...isn't it the same thing? What is it that Stillen does to theirs other than the mount? I also need to find a place here in KC that will install it for me.....I doubt Nissan service will do it. I'm hoping to have it installed and driving it like i stole it buy thanksgiving. Also what engine mods should I get before the SC?

Hey KEV, is that 350hp to the wheels or just 350hp?

Stillen is about as good as any big company. Avalon is the distributer for some different companys that sell them for less than the acual compnay they can be found at avalonracing.net.
Don't let nissan put it on or ever mess with it.
If you car is an auto you should get the vb mod and a tranny cooler...and i think an oil cooler is a good idea cuz it get hot.If its a manual then it's good to have a short shift kit and new clutch.
I'll speak for kev i guess...that hp prob is at the wheels but he has a much smaller pulley than the stock pulley and other mods with it.

Right on, I have a 5spd so I will definately get a new clutch. I have just heard about some people getting like fuel controllers and pumps and whatnot and just wondered if those are necessary. If they are I will get them, if not I will wait a while.

The only go fast mod I have is the s/c with stock pulley for now so i guestimate 250 at the wheels and 300-310 at the crank from other stat sheets ive seen.

That's cool. Have you ever driven the sc in the snow or winter conditions? I'm in Kansas at it snows!

Just making sure my investment is secure. I think asking questions to people that have already done what I am trying to spend $7k doing is probably a good idea...instead of "just doing it" and finding out I just fu*cked my engine.

Yeah, that runs alright. I wouldn't go with a 3" exhaust system running the stock 3.6" pulley though (don't think you'll benefit from the larger diameter).

Pessimistic estimate: 270 at the wheels or 350 at the crank
Optimistic estimate: 310 at the wheels or 404 at the crank

This is with 22% loss of power from the 'magic tranny.

I'd rather be pessimistic and happy when I put down better numbers than be optimisitic and said when I put down crappier numbers.
