The solution is to wait until it breaks in.. I used to have it but now it's gone or maybe I got used to it!!!!!!
What brand did you get? How do you like?

I wrapped my whole y pipe with exhaust wrap... that should quiet down the hissing in the flex section (all you have to do is wrap the flex). I'll be wrapping the b pipe and part of the GReddy muffler when I get it.

header wrap the flex joint...

I still need to do that, but my pipe is almost dead silent. The flex joint will get quieter as you drive it more and more.

YJ, how big is the b-pipe?

Hey Bud,

How long is the break-in period? I bought it used & I've had it for about 500 miles (I don't know how long the former driver had it on for).

I have the Cattman ... & other than the noise ... I LUV it!!! The car is completely different with it! But after I installed the HKS ... the hissing got noticeably louder.

I'll try that header wrap Kev ... tkx!

No problem. Just wrap the flex section as Nauman said. You'll have plenty of wrap left so you might want to think about splitting the cost with a few people (50 feet of wrap).

would there be any advantage to wraping the entire y pipe and not just the flex section? I only ask b/c I am the only max owner around here (interested in mod's at least) and don't wanna waste the leftovers.

the theory behind header wrap is that it causes the exhaust gas temperatures to rise. Faster exhaust gases = faster velocity of escape from exhaust = better flow. It is made for the purpose of wrapping around headers to insulate them. So, wrapping the whole thing in header wrap should be a good thing

Hehehe... what he said.

Screw it, just wrap your whole entire exhaust system.

well since I live in an area with snow, slush, salt and such ... would that have any adverse effects on the cattman y pipe? I got the cattman for the snow issues and I was just concerned about the header wrap holding in the moisture.

I bought it locally here in Toronto ... Greg @ custommaxima.com sells it for $370 (not sure if this includes shipping).

Warning ... I bought two neon underbody kits from Greg ... over a month ago ... I can post many different messages from him that has very very very conflicting dates as to when he shipped them out ... I don't think I'm the first one to have problems with his shipping practices either ... btw ... I still don't have them .... the last e-mail said that it was shipped out on the 26th .. I also have an e-mail from him which said he shipped it on the 19th as well ... very very frustrating ...

I won't be too concerned since it's SS. When you're driving, the extreme heat will dry up the wrap really quick.
