Yoko AVS Db's
I'm thinking of gittin me some Mille Miglia 18" Chromo Evo's with Yokohama AVS Db's. What do you guys think?
I live in the Northeast so can't really go with pure performance tires, need to have the all season tires. On top of that, I think the friggin stock Toyo's are mad loud, especially cruisin on the Turnpike, too much road noise.
Anyone else with the Yoko's?
And just as a matter of opinion, do you guys think that the chrome would look tacky on the Max? Silver or Chrome? I've yet to see a Max with chrome rims. You know what I'm saying, some cars just don't look right with chrome rims **cough** civics **cough**.

Heh, I want to get like a blue/metallic tint kinda like the Lex, but not as green (do they make something like that?).
Haven't looked into it thoroughly yet though cuz my cars been in Philly after some ******* in a 92 Accord doing at least 35 MPH smashed up my girl's 2000 Protege and then pushed her car into the rear of mine while we were both at a dead stop. I haven't seen my Max since August 30...been driving around a 98 Sentra! Damn I miss my Max!
Anyways, any of you guys in Jersey? If you are, you guys know if Auto Image is any good? I think I'm gonna get my windows tinted by them.
I'm still stuck on whether I should get chrome or silver...worried a little about the chrome chipping/fading (?) and not sure whether it'll look tacky or not.

HOWEVER, they made me a little nervous in the winter. Not terrible in the deep snow, but not great.
In central Ohio, we don't get a ton of snow. We get lots of freezing rain, slush and 1-2" snowfalls in a two hour period. The Yokos are not suited to this environment, but I couldn't afford dedicated snow tires. With the new Max, I am biting the bullet and getting Blizzaks for the winter. I would think that in the NE, the dbs are going to be trouble in the winter.
If you do go with the dbs, let us know how they perform in the white stuff and in general.

I say drop first then rims. 18-19's on a stock Max doesn't look good at all!
BTW those rims will look sweet on dropped black max!

I have Yokohama AVS Db,s on my 18" rims and I love them. They are the quietest performance tire on the market. With 18" wheels and a lower profile tire you can get a lot of tire and road noise into the cabin. These are the tire I chose after trying a set of Potenza's, which were very noisy.

Thanks for the heads up mykar.
For anyone else curious about the rims, they're at TireRack.com for $369/ea for the chrome 18"x8", $309/ea for chrome 17"x8"
I'm still kinda debating the 18-17 thingy...save about $300 to go with the 17's...hmmmmmm.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too man, you only buy rims once (for $2000, I don't think I'll be buying rims after these!).
But there is the issue of performance that Cheston brings up. Curious about how big of a performance hit you obtain by using 18 inch rims over 17 inch rims.
For one thing, the diameter is one factor in determining the amount of rotational energy required to turn the wheel. In addition to that, the added size of both the wheel and the tire could also add to the power loss that will go into turning the wheel. But again, I'm a lazy so I'm not gonna bust out the physics book ...just pondering.

I've got 15" AVS db's on my '94 Legend (soon to be replaced with the 2k2 6-speed I ordered last week) and think the are the best tire I've used so far... The don't howl embarrassingly like my Michelin's did and have incredible dry and wet traction! They are also virtually silent as advertised. The only thing I haven't had a chance to try them out in is snow...
Granted, I'm using them as more of an "all season" tire, but I'd still say HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
