Did anyone upgrade to the AE engine cover?

Hey, has anyone with a 2K max upgrade to the aluminum cover that comes on the AE? If so can you share a good place to get it and how much it costs? Any pros, cons with it?

I was told to contact DaveB about the item but wanted to get more info from ppl who have done it to make sure I want it, before I bug Dave? I think it looks really nice.

Nissan should upgrade this for us all free. Can we make this a TSB (just kidding, wishful thinking)

I think it looks good too, but for the price (around 100 dollars), I said forget it. I can put that money to some other mod.

Yeah $100 for a mod that no one will really see and doesn't enhance driving in anyway doesn't seem very smart.

I have it

I got the piece a short time after they releseased the AE edition max...it was a straight bolt on and looks good...But I agree with everyone else, I could have bought a better mod for the 120 I spent on it.

Also, when they sent me the cover, they only sent two bolts to bolt the cover to bracket...it takes four...I hate it when you spend a few bucks on something for your car and they don't include everything to install it...other than that, it was very, very easy to install..

I got mine from courtesy nissan...www.courtesyparts.com

Could find it on the site? Did couple of searches and still didn't find it? Did you just call them?

Can DaveB give a .org discount on this item?

I installed one a few weeks back. I think it enhances my engine bay.

Why does everybody ***** about the cost of the part and how it could be better spent elsewhere? Don't you know how much it is before you buy it?

Re: Did anyone upgrade to the AE engine cover?

Oh, yeah...best mod I ever got. Well worth the money, in my opinion. It added at least another 22HP to the wheels and shaved almost 2 seconds off my 1/4 mile time too. Thinking about getting the chrome door sills next so my car can star in Fast & Furious II next summer. Saving up this winter, for sure. Wish me luck...

I noticed the cover when I saw an AE and looked at my 2k and saw that the thread taps were in place to take the cover.
However, though looking pretty good, it seems to me it would increase the underhood temperatures by restricting air flow off the top of the engine.

I think this is one case where looks alone can be poor engineering. Who wants a hotter engine?

On the temp gague there is a black dot. My gague covers this dot and never got much higher. Is your engine cooler?

Its fine. I just took it off to check whats underneath. If my car didn't come with I would not go and spend anymore money on one.
