2k Front end noise

My 2k SE, 5 sp has developed a klunking racket in the front suspension someplace. Klunks along with any vertical front wheel action while moving. It has 19k on it and the dealer has looked "everyplace" changes 1 strut with no effects and now acts totally baffeld.
The car overall is disappointing in the handling dept with tire noise in even moderate moves and somewhat "loose" in the curves. I expect they are related.
Anyone have any ideas that I can suggest to the esteemed professionals at the dealership to assist finding the problem? Are there front end weaknesses, steering rack defects, something up under there that I should mention?

Re: 2k Front end noise

I had a similar problem with CG Coil-Overs. The diaphram on the top kept "klunking" here and there. So, I lowered it a little more and caked the top of the strut with white lithium grease. All quiet now!

Just a thought...

I guess they did the TSB

I have a GLE Auto and I've noticed a clunk when on uneven bumpy roads. Not just a bump, but like road construction @ 30+ mph. I havent said anything to the dealer as it only happens on really really bad roads at fairly low speed. Its not all the loud.. its like a bunch of dull thuds in rapid succession.

I have been alittle concerned as well.. If you find anything, please share.

Funny thing...Ihad the same problem for the first 15,000 mile or so on my car but now the sound seems to have completely disappeared. I haven't heard it for the last 8,000 miles or so.

I think he had this done...

actually, this isnt so much like that strut problem. This is more lik having a bowling ball loose in your engine bay. I think its a bushing on the front sway bar.

Know the feeling

I get a clunk when I go over speed bumps from my front suspension Who knows. Doesn't seem to be effecting anything else.

Perhaps it's all the extra weight from that Edlebrach Torquer sticking out of the hood???

Is there a TSB out on the front strut mounts?
Also, what are "solid monoballs" and where do you find them?
I was in the process of defining suspension mods as this occurred, now I'll wait for it to be fixed
or identified.
