Raced an A4

Was driving to school today on Northern State, going about 70 when I noticed a silver A4 weaving in and out of traffic in my rear view mirror. He had the S4/Audi Sport sign, different grill and really lowered. Came up real fast behind me and pasted me. Had a car lead when I steped on it and had no problems catching up from like 75-110. But there where to many cars around so we procceded in and out for about 10 mins, all this time I was in his a$$, in fact had to break real hard a few times(more about this later) not to hit him even though he had plenty of space to accelerate, but I guess his car did not have it in it... The car was fully debaged so probaly was a moded 1.8 or 2.8, I do not think anyone with an S4 would debage it and I would not be able to stay with it so easily. Anyway, he ended up loosing me in traffic and then got off right away so I never got a chance to race him head to head... Really wish I did! Also, I must add, as we were goign 100+ I did not feel very comfortable since the road was somewhat curvy. I have not driven at such high speeds for so long before, but I just did not feel completely "safe" at the curves. What can I do to help that? FSTB? Better rubber??
Another thing, my breaks were really loud and car shaked when I was breaking at that speed, and when I pulled up to a light 15 mins later, the car would still really shake and was very loud when breaking even at 40... The steering wheel did not shake as much as the sound and the wheels seemed to... Seems to have gooten better as the day went on, but in general, breaks really suck!!

That shaking you felt is more than likely a problem with 5th gens brake rotors. Check out the brake TSB.

As s/o posted earlier ... this is the brake judder problem .. there is a TSB for this ... Nissan will fix it for free & give you new brake pads as well!

I have had my front and rear breaks replaced already and paid for it. Front at 20K and rear at 30K. I am not sure if I shoudl have but I did kidn have the "symptoms" of the break TSB, only found out about the tsb too late...
Would they still honor the TSB now? What can I tell them to get them to do it for free??

A4 are nice, and I would considered it had the dealer here been a bit more polite. We only have one dealership in town and they were sobs.
I have only seen 1 2002 around. I prefer the 2001 rear end, but the new 3.0 engine.

that's too bad ... i guess your dealers are as$holes ... mine we're taking a look @ mine & asked me if I was experiencing it .. I said no ... they said that they'd do it anyways b/c my pads were getting a little thin ....

as far as i'm concerned, get new tires. i've already had 2 potenzas blow their sidewalls at medium speeds. also, tires will make more of a difference than a fstb or rsb, they only help with body roll.
this is my experience since i had to replace the tires before getting the fstb/rsb. HUGE difference with good tires. plus safer. if you can afford it, get tires.

Get the brakes fixed!!!

I've had mine replaced twice b4 the dealer expired my warranty on the brakes... I guess painting the calipars is a no no for Nissan.
BTW...As long as you haven't passed 36k miles, they should honor the tsb...

Hey Toylet, I didn't know you can keep up with M3s? Prove it!! I'd like to see this in person...

Tires make a world of differnece. I also think that 70 percent of the shaking problems are with the balance if the tires and out of round tires. When I upgraded to new rims and tires most of my problems went away. I think my rotors are a little warped but not nearly as bad as I thought they were.

everyone else answered pretty much everything...
the brakes...your rotors are warped..it's such a common thing for all 5th gen owners...just either resurface the rotors or replace them with Brembo rotors...the stock rotors are POS!!
