SunRoof Wind Deflector - Like/Dislike

Looking for opinions on the Sunroof Wind Deflector. I personally don't like the looks but do they work that well ?

Thanks

I took mine off after a couple of weeks. Noticed no appreciable change in wind noise and got really tired of trying to clean under it and dry the car (water keeps runnng out of the drain holes in it for several minutes after a wash and dry).

Didn't really care for the looks either...but it was aleady installed on the car I bought.

Minuses:
- Kills the paint underneath where it sits after a while. It might come back with some buffing, maybe wet sanding. I didn't bother, just had it off to clean and wax under there (Don't say it.)
- Leaves get stuck under there in the fall until you open the moonroof. Then you have fall in your backseat.
- Don't like the looks, others do.

Pluses:
- Here's the ONLY reason I keep it - SOOOO quiet! I'm on the phone a lot in the car. You can't even tell the moonroof is open with the deflector up there. Really cuts down on the noise.

I felt the same way when I first saw the deflector. But it has grown on me. As for how it works, I think it's pretty good. The noise levels (from the wind)at highway speeds are significantly lower when I have my sunroof open. (I know because I took off the deflector to clean under it and drove my car for a while without).

I don't think cleaning under is a major chore...I have a washing mit and it's easy...

My understanding is that the only time you need the wind deflector is when the back seat passengers can feel the wind coming into the car. Which basically means it was poor install. This is just what I have heard from friends that used to work at shops that did Moonroof and convertibles for dealers.

Wind Deflector?

Does it keep the pulsating noise away when only the sunroof is open? Thus preventing the need to open other windows?

Hate it...

It was history after about 10 minutes of owning the car. No way I was going to keep taking on an off to wax/wash. Noise is no different than when I had my Probe so no biggie to me.....

I think the noise is MUCH lower at highway speeds. and I've driven quite a bit with and without.

Anybody want mine???

Don't like it.
It takes away the "coolness" factor of having you moonroof popped up.

If anybody wants one for real cheap, make an offer...

Took mine off once to clean it and I had to do so much scrubbing to get the lines off.... Guess what I never put it back on The noise with and without is pretty negligible.

I am a 100% with UMD...the car looks higher with it(like there is couple of inches added to the roof) and its just plain ugly...also i never drive with the sunroof open on the high way...sometimes tilted but not too long....so it never bothered me to take it off

I love it, but then there are only 2 times when I have it closed is when it is raining and when it is parked outside (at work or at the mall) other than that, I love it

How do you remove the deflector?

I believe there are 2 screws in the deflector itself that mount to brackets at the sunroof, and then there are 1 screw for each bracket.

I like mine. It keeps the wind noise down (as compared to other cars without one).

I had my Max for a few months (in the summer) before getting the deflector. The difference in the noise level is significant. I would say that it cuts wind noise by half. I have never noticed the buffeting noise with it on. I can understand the complaints about washing/waxing underneath it but if you don't plan on taking it off, I don't think it is much of a concern. I also think it complements the look of my black Max.

the moonroof...doesn't pop up THAT much...only like an 1 or 2 inches...sucks ***, my friend has the 2k VR6 and his opens up a lot more which is much more nicer, so there is like no "coolness" when its poped up

I noticed that too about my sunroof. I see sunroofs on other cars which are propped up much more. I just open my sunroof instead. With the sunroof propped open, the wind noise is just too great. But with the deflector and the sunroof open, the interior is nice and quiet.

BTW, the deflector does not stop the turbulence sometimes. I've had it happen to me with the deflector installed.
