Is there anything coming out of your breather tube?

Well I got back from the shop. They ran it on the computer and found a EPC circuit problem. Doesn't shift to second gear. Possible servo problem in the VB. Verified the shift solenoids are working. I have to take to shop again to drop pan to hope it's just a clip not connected. I talked to Jeff at maximum tuning and said verify it's the VB and if it is to send back to him.

were they able to test if the shift solenoids were working without dropping the pan, and actually taking the solenoids out?

Update on mine. My tranny is getting rebuilt. They adjusted the bands for 2nd gear and got it for a little bit but it's done. So if you have a problem I would get it looked at. Plus they are looking at better friction parts to make it stronger.

Find a reputable shop and have them check it out. Getting stuck on the side of the rode is no fun. No one will pick you up unless you have a six pack with you.

Mine is fixed and it's worth it to get it done. Now I can finally feel the vb mod.

My rebuild cost 2438.00. But I spent more then that. Cause I had a non LSD tranny bought a used AE tranny with 51,000 miles on thinking it was good for 700.00 Then I bought a stage II vb 400.00. And 600.00 to install tranny first time. So I have spent close to 4200.00 So don't do what I did. But this tranny is awsome and I am glad it's right.

$600 to install a transmission? Is it really that labor intensive of a job?

Are you getting an OEM level rebuilt or are you upgrading the clutch packs, etc?

alright, now the definition of a slip is when the engine rpm increases, but the speed stays the same? cause my car doesnt exactly do that.. it moreso just takes a second or 2 to shift over.. i've been in vehicles that were slipping and it was ALOT worse than mine.. when mine reaches 6,000rpms, it just takes a little bit before it shifts, as it is not instantaneous as it is in lower speeds/rpms.. is that still considered a slip?

Typically, you can actually feel the slip and see the rpms jump as the slip occurs.

Not sure about Maximas, but I know when I had my Accord, the first sign the transmission is going is a 2-3 upshift and 3-2 downshift flare. As the shift or downshift occurs, the tach will jump 300-500 rpm while the transmission slips before it actually grabs the gear.

check your transmission oil. see if there's any particles. how much particles. you shouldn't have to drain the whole thing.

2 worn out 2 clutches in 2 different cars.

1st one was not shooting it's the rpm - it was taking longer to fully engage. I did not care for about 2-3 weeks I think and I was driving in the mountain on a really hot day with some people in the car and AC on. Dropped the people off and had some high speed fun by myself on the way back, suddenly my clutchs got stuck on the floor. Turns out the clutch was completely gone and it scraped the plate really bad.

2nd one WAS shooting the rpm. We were doing cross country offroad thing for 3 weeks so had to live with it until it stops. We were doing mountain clims, river crossing, sands, etc. and on one hot day, while driving high speed it just stopped. So had to drag it for the last 300 KM of our tour.

My maxima's clutch is wearing out also. Now I feel it can handle 30,000 more KM unless I do stupid things, which is hard to resist.
