So back to my question, did they include the spacers as stated? And what sized spacers did you use? Thanks irish

i purchased those "custom brackets" supposedly specialized for our maximas from the nyc forum....long story short....those damn brackets have mounting holes not drilled to spec. The screw holes were too small to match the hub mounting holes and too small to fit the oem bolts

even with the caliper off-center, all four pistons move at the same time. Offsetting the calipers (wilwoods in particular) has been done for years and years in the classic/muscle car scene, since older/smaller wheels don't have s much clearance.

I didn't notice any. then again, I wasn't looking for them so might have thrown them out for all I know. I just used some washers that I was previously using as shims on the z32 calipers.

hub mounting holes? there are no threads for bolts in the knuckle. it is a straight hole. i bought the brackets from that member and my install was simple. however i did buy new bolts for the brackets because the buyer told me that the threads in the brackets are not metric and the stock hardware wouldnt work. so i went and bought 4 bolts. are you sure you are installing the brackets correctly? the way i installed it, was the new bolts went through the knuckle hole and threaded into the bracket. post pics. and irish44j i dint say that the pistons moved at different times, i said one side moves more then the other side if the rotor isnt centered. wheel clearance = wheel spacers

being that the mounting holes are bigger in the knuckle and that you are using smaller diameter bolts thru these holes...how secure is it? Will it move around under extreme braking conditions?

if this makes sense, the mounting holes in the knucle and in the bracket are the same. the reason oem 14mm bolts dont work in the bracket is because the threads are standard not metric which is common

One side does NOT "move" more than the other. Each time you depress the pedal, they will move the same amount, regardless of where the caliper is centered. They don't retract more than .5mm or so when you lift off the brake pedal.

The issue comes up only when the pad is low on material, in that the more-extended piston could "pop out" in theory (depending on the offset), which is why pad shim spacers are used-to alleviate said problem. This is not rocket science. Like I have said many times, it is not uncommon for offset calipers (not centered on the rotor) on alot of backfit brake setups, including vintage racers. This is a FACT and I've never heard of it being an issue of concern.

Is centered better? Sure, for the simple fact that shims don't need to be used. But then you have wheel clearance issues - and wheel spacers are not the answer as they simply weaken the wheel-to-hub interface in many cases.

to all you late arrivals....the red ones with th wrong piston bore were sent back long ago. Black ones have been installed, uninstalled for winter, and are currently sitting on a shelf in my garage.

enough with the color commentary!!!
