Someone please help me...

Ok heres the problem, I have the infamous tcs off, slip, and SES lights on at the same time. This has happened before and I replaced the maf and lights went away and car drove great. The lights came back and i got a new maf. Heres the problem, whenever I put in the NEW maf the car will stall after it starts. I have tried 3 different NEW maf and everytime i put it in the car stalls, but when i use my old maf the car runs but it is sluggish. What could be the problem??

Also, my engine cranks for too long before it starts.

heres a list of mods maybe one of these causes the problem but i doubt it.
headers, pulley, intake, spacers and untuned vafc2.

oh and this happened immediately after header and pulley install.

Thanks in advance.

Check coils, check MAF. Make sure your pulley is fully secured to the crank. Check your alternator.

to double checking the crank pulley though as well, even if it's unrelated just double check it anyways for safety sake. Also, you fail to mention what codes you're getting........But......

On the vafcII make sure that the in/out settings are correct, meaning if you have the original maf for the car you need the same in/out settings, 1/1, 2/2, etc. However maybe somebody ran a different maf on the car and that's why none of the other three work, if your settings were something like 1in/4out than I'd wonder why, and I'd use one if the new mafs and put the in/out settings the same. If that checks out ok double check the maf connections where they are spliced for the vafcII, and follow the procedure for checking reference voltage etc for the maf (see FSM, vq35de.com) This is all assuming you had the codes checked and maf is the only one you're getting,

thanks for the help guys

As far as codes go, I am only getting the camshaft pos sensor one. I already replaced both cam sensors and the crank sensor. No luck with that. Only other codes im getting are for 02 sensors.

ok, since you have e-gas the throttle opening is normal iirc, wouldn't worry about that.

Also, hard starting (possibly caused by maf issue!) , is one of the main causes listed in the fsm for all of the cam and crank sensor codes, so again, I wouldn't worry about that either just yet.

Did you check the settings on the VAFCII yet? Also is the wiring 100% legit still?

yea everything with the vafcII is wired correctly. I had the the vafcII for a while, and this problem has started recently.

The really wierd thing is that when i put a NEW MAF in the car it will start and then immediately die even if i give it gas(NOT a defective maf because I have tried 3 other MAF and all of these cause my car to die), but with the old MAF it will stay on.

That's why you need to check the In/Out settings just for fun

Yea i checked them already. Same in out settings. Tried on various 1/1 2/2 6/6. same crap. Keep in mind I have a stock MAF not oversized. I want to upgrade but I want to get the car running right first.

Sometimes the car will be really unresponsive around 3 or 4k rpm.

It seriously isn't a hassle for the back ones. I replaced all 6 of mine in like 35 minutes and talking on the phone at the same time. And I don't consider myself mechanically inclined. Just pop the throttle cables out of the little guider clips and you can access the rears fairly easily

UPDATE: Ok, i replaced the coils. Made a huge difference. I didnt even noticed my car had lost so much power. Before it would struggle a lot in first from 2k-4k and now it pulls hard. I can finally enjoy my headers.

But, the long cranking continues, and the tcs off, slip, and ses light are still on.

Things i have replaced : coils, both cam sensors, and crank sensor.

I read somewhere on a recent thread that you have to get a "reflush" on the ECU when you install a new MAF .. Can it possibly be that ?

Did you try clearing the code after you replaced the coils? You need to do that

Sounds to me like you need to check the sensors at the wheels.
