Best way to find out is to take it to the dealer (or someone) that can grab the error code for you.

If there are no obvious problems, check the gas cap is on tight, 3 clicks minimum. Reset the ECU by unplugging the battery a few hours. If the light comes back on then take it to the dealer for a diagnosis.

Mine came on while racing on track. It was the throttle position sensor that went bad. It also felt like my transmission broke, I guess it just went on some kind of 'safe' mode. The part was on back order for 2 weeks, just got it fixed today.

yeah. i just had it a couple weeks ago. initially i cleared it out then it came back on a week later so i took it to the dealer. guy there told me he reprogrammed ecu with updated exhaust parameters. it's been cool since then. but i understand it could be anything. pretty generic error. you'll have to pull the code off the ecu. take it to a shop instead of the dealer. the one i went to didn't charge me just for the code like the dealers sometimes will. they'll quote you on the work that needs to be done then charge for that.

My check engine light came on and I took it to the dealership and they hooked me up to the comp and discovered an O2(oxygen) sensor was bad in the exaust which they had to replace. No big deal...When the check engine light was on my car ran completely normal so I knew it couldnt be a big deal.
