car bouncing
So I have came upon a weird/new problem with my maxima. My car has starting bouncing a little(almost like it would feel with warped rotors) while I am sitting still. The first time it happened I had driven my car approx 100 miles and I was sitting at a red light. My car starting bouncing slightly so the first thing I did was look at my RPM's and the needle stayed at exactly the same RPM while the car was bouncing. The second time it happened was today. I started my car after not driving it for 4-5 days and it started bouncing again, so I am lost on this issue. Like I stated before I was at a complete stop and the bouncing felt similiar to warped rotors so its not a violent bounce but definately noticeable, during both occurances the RPM stayed in the same spot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

you also have a double post: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=541286
my guess is motor mounts.

give a bit more info, what do you mean bouncing? also you say it is like the brakes being warped...but youa re standing still. does the steering wheel jitter like it would with warped rotors?
This sounds like a definate combination problem...something causing an oscillation in the vehicle, but also a suspension failure causeing the vehicle to bounce continuously.
GIve more info or PM with specifics.

Does the bouncing eventually subside? In this case I would suspect a problem in the suspension. The front end dips slightly when you come to a halt and go back up when completely stopped. This can cause oscillation as Matt stated above. The shocks are supposed to dampen this out but if they're blown the oscillation can continue for a short time. It should stop though and you have to be braking pretty hard for it to be noticeable.
If the car carries on bouncing then the only thing I think of is that the motor mounts have gone whacky.

If you are talking about a vibration that could be coming from a rough idle, it could be a bad coil. Is it making any extra engine noise or anything?
If you are talking about a real bouncing (like shocks going up and down), it definately wouldnt be a coil.

everytime this is happening i have been sitting still. not moving a single inch. the steering wheel is not shaking. i referenced the warped rotors becuase i wanted to signify that the bouncing is not violent but you can still feel it. once again i am sitting completely still when this happens. for instance i started my car yesterday and before i ever put it in gear it started bouncing a little. the bounce goes away once i start moving

Define "bounce". Like give me an amplitude estimate. 1 mm? 20mm? 100mm?
Try this. Bear with me here.
Start the car...
let it "bounce"...
throttle up to 2000-2500 RPM and hold 10-15sec...see if it stops.
If not, continue to slowly throttle up and see if it goes away.
let us know the results.
and for the record what shocks/springs do you have?
