Hood Shaking

For some reason at high speeds (60-80mph) my hood begins to shake up and down around the windshield wipers as though it were loose. I was told that this was adjustable but as to how I don't know. Anyone know of any solutions?

There are adjusters under the hood.

My hood isn't at the same level left and right. Left is good, but right fender edge is a little bit higher than hood.

It's probbibly the sprung welds discussed in the TSB mentioned above. Mine does it too.

fyi, weather stripping on top of headlights (were the hood meets) helps a lot. makes the hood more snug and reduces the air flow under the edges.

Shaking hood brings back bad memories. When that thing flies off and smacks your windshield, it puts a real knot in your stomach.

The TSB states it's for 2001-2002.
I would imagine there is no difference on the 03's right?

You are right. '03s are the same.

The TSB also lists some Nissan-made rubber parts that will help the problem. I ordered them (Total of about $10) and followed the TSB instructions. Most of of my hood vibration went away.

For the Canadians out there:

I just ordered these up from my local stealership and the cost was $25.00.

I'll report back as to whether or not it fixed the vibrations.

It is, there are three solutions in the TSB; Latch adjustment, rubber hood stop & headlight weather stripping, and broken welds.

If the vibrations are all up front then the likely culprit is the latch or the need to install the rubber stripping and bumpstop.

Update: I installed all the weather stripping on top of the headlights. It did help the vibrations, but did not completely get rid of them. The hood stays pretty much still until I cross 120 km/h. At the higher speeds the hood still does vibrate a bit, but I wouldn't think it's enough to cause the latch to give way.
