just raced an ss impala

on the park way i notice this nice 96 green impala doing about 80mph with rims, lowerd ,hood scoops ,and one of those huge antennas on the trunk so i just check the driver to make sure he not a trooper ,he notices me and starts to speed up to the toll.he has easy pass so he gets out first flying out the toll both with me about 2 cars behind him ,i catch up to the impala and go into 4th gear to pass him by 122mph i have about 3-4 cars and still pulling on him when i slow down thinking he gave up so he comes flying up to my bumper then pulls up beside me all ****ed like i cheated or something.i get behind him to see if he tries again(which he did'nt) and notice the huge antenna on his trunk has came off when he was trying to catch me and is now draped over the trunk

Yea those 95ish Impala's have corvette engines, but they are freakn land yachts.

Does anyone know the 0-60 and 1/4th for a 95-96 Impala SS ?

They DO NOT have corvette engines...the have the LT1 engine and the corvette had the LT4 engine....different heads, cams, intake manifold, exhaust...etc....they only make 260hp same as the old LT1 Z28..and then weight approx. 4000 lbs...that's a hell of a lot of car for 260 hp to get moving...
0-60 and 1/4 mile are roughly 7.2 and 15.5 respectively...not bad for a big @ss car...but not fast either.

My buddy ran a 15.5 in his modded impala...

15.5! Damn... that's slow. I ran my friend in front of my Maxima friends and lost to him in my old GXE. He ran a 14.7 in his stock 1996 Impala.

Car and driver tested one. 0-60 was 6.4 with top speed in excess of 140mph. 260hp. Its a toned down version of the Corvette engine. It actually says Corvette engine on there.

I don't think it says Corvette on it. Here's a few pics

My friend ran a 14.7 on his best run against me in my 2000 automagic GXE. Lately he's running 15 flat. We have the rematch scheduled, now that I have my new Maxima. I hope to crush him.

That is one mess of an engine. So much clutter and tubes and metal going everywhere. Not as clean as in the Maxima engine bay. And the interior is just hideous!

I like the exterior. The interior is god awful. The engine has so many possibilities. There is a ton of room under the hood too.

this car shares an LT-1 engine block with Corvette..Impala is considered a collector's car, they are so rare. I'm sure their resale values are the highest of any other GM product besides Corvette

I love this car, but would not buy it due to the more than healthy appetite on gasoline.

The older vettes had the LT1, and some had the LT4. Many have done LT4 swaps into the Impala SS's.

I went to a meet where there were over 20 Impala SS and some of them had removed some cover on the top of the engine. and all of those said corvette on the engine. I think the corvette name is hidden underneath the cover.

I assume you are talking about the little plaque right on top of the throttle body....you can buy a corvette plaque for it. 2 little hex screws and you've got a corvette engine....whopee....

Doh

Interesting, I ran a buddies modded (the chevy 350 is so cheap and easy to mod well over 300+ HP) SS Impala, luckily I had a great start, no lag, no hop, perfect shifts, etc... and still got beat by about 2 to 3 car lengths, ran him pretty close til about 100, the SS's really start to fly from 100 on. No this was not a standard quarter mile, just two dummies ****ing around, btw got clocked racing at 115 mph in my old Vette about 10 years ago and spent the night in jail, keep that in mind, anything over 100 mph always looks really bad in front of the judge ($500.00 & suspension for 6 months, no priors).
