don't apologize.. you tried to search and most of the links in there now don't work thanks to the hackers that took the site down for a while.. happens to me and i'm sure many others as well.. bastards.. anyway...

VIAS stands for Variable Intake... something.. i cant remember.. lol.. but basically it allows the intake manifold to have better flow into the engine when it reaches the upper RPMS, and its the main reason why 5th gens have more horsepower than 4th gens.. when you see a 4th gen person who has "00VI" listed in their mods, it means they have the intake manifold of a 5th gen maxima on their car

now sometimes these *****es break.. kinda often from what i read before.. and it can be fixed by taking off a housing right by the throttle body, opening it up, and applying some JBweld to it.. i'm not sure of the details of what exactlly breaks inside there, or how exactly to fix it.. but thats a basic overview of the VIAS.. if anybody else wants to chime in with more details (perhaps what VIAS actually stands for) thatd be great, but thats my piece

Using the search in the stickies for simple "VIAS" got me these. I'm pretty sure if you tried, you could have found them too. On some threads you just have to change "showthread" to "oldthread" as was stated in the sticky after the site went down.

i don't think mine is broken.. i got the car with 76k on it.. now it has 107k and still pulls pretty well above 5k rpms.. i think this is probably because the previous owner didnt push it to those extremes and the VIAS was hardly used if it all for the first 76,000 miles of its life.. but now i'm using it like a motherfreaker and it will probably break soon.. lol
